Re: What adhesive for mirror button attached to frit?
On smaller mirror brackets Locktite adhesive mirror kits will work on both glass and frit applications as long as instructions are followed. What we do is spray glass and wire brushed bracket with primer and wipe off to remove any contaminates. And then spray again with primer. Let dry use adhesive on bracket and hold to glass for 60 seconds. On larger brackets such as some Lexus and Porsche brackets urethane(use urethane primer on clean glass/bracket first and let dry before using a dolop of urethane) or factory pads(PorscheFCW193/FCW235) should be used. If you locktite on these sometimes the glass will crack do to the strength of the locktite. HTH
Re: What adhesive for mirror button attached to frit?
Thanks for the tips. I'm reusing the old button which took a chunk of glass with it on removal. And it does look like it has primer on it from the last install.
Re: What adhesive for mirror button attached to frit?
Loctite anaerobic adhesive will cause a stress crack in the windshield if used on a mirror fritted glass and there is a drastic temperature change. Loctite is great for transparent glass but a flexible adhesive is required for fritted mirror pads. I use 3M Channel Bond Adhesive.
