Re: Nags List Prices Verses Mygrant Pilk List Prices
You are obviously brand new to the industry and to this forum. People have been asking your question for decades and only lost sheep continue to use NAGS for anything but their numbering system.
Re: Nags List Prices Verses Mygrant Pilk List Prices
I will try to make this simple. Nags is NOT a list price. It is a benchmark or guideline. And a very poor pathetic piece of garbage that most all have to use in some shape or form. Some use it only for part numbers.
Walk down memory lane.
In 1999 Nags did the First "RE-BALANCE". Chev say dw1217, p/up window had about a $1500 list. In the 90's Shops discounting went from around 15% off to 60-70 % off Manufacturer's list, NAGS benchmark was the same. In 1999 they discounted that same w/s down to around $688.00 or so, and the distributors followed. Discounting was at 0, over a few years discounting went back up to 60-70%. CRAZY!!!!!
Then came 2005 the big KAHUNA! If it worked once, let's see if we can pull this off again! Someone's overseas bank account must have looked pretty darn good! Again they lowered the Nags benchmark by 80-90%. So that same chev w/s went to about $198.00.
Everyone started SCREAMING!!!! Manufacturer's and distributors refused to bow down to the great master NAGS. But QUICKLY the insurance companies Spoke up WAIT we will be revenue neutral and fair to all......What started out as NAGS plus 133-144% MARK-UP and more, spiraled down hill to the pathetic non profit of today.
So as you step back and look at ALL the players don't forget to look at the shops who caved into discounting rather than marking up from that benchmark. Some refuse to discount from an already discounted benchmark.
