Cold weather impact

Just sitting here thinking, why no one is talking about the extremely cold weather this winter and how it is and has been impacting the auto glass industry. Agrr you need some fresh thinkers.

From speaking with Ins co's and distributors, they all feel a major impact. Colder weather has brought many challenges. Areas that are normally fair weather have had colder temps and allot more simple chips have cracked out and now needing replacement. Some say it is busier than any other time.

what about expenses? Heat, electric, how many are experiencing much higher operating costs? heat and propane have sky-rocketed. Electric is up, and we just got word even phone services are taking a major increase.

Now with, the cold temps, ice and extreme conditions how many are experiencing an increase in damages due to these conditions.

Is what some call current market pricing, is it keeping up with the extra costs of extreme conditions, and is the increase of claims keeping up with the costs increases?

Just wondering what others think about how this is impacting the average Glass business.

Re: Cold weather impact

Don't see an increase in AGR profit margin. Even if $$$ margin stays the same this year (but appears to be shrinking) the AGR industry is taking a hit in the pocketbook.

Re: Cold weather impact

I see nothing but higher profit projections all the way into mid summer at the rate we are going. Supply and demand is driving up the market share'a and prices per invoice for us at this moment of time. With the major AGR company unable to keep up with the demand. We are capturing the overflow thru strategic planing.

This season will make up for a few years of the past declining sales from mild temperature winters. We upgraded our service fleets into Transit Connect service vans about a year ago. So we actual anticipated a cost savings from fuel prior to this. We upgraded all our business cell plans with data share so that has a impact as well. Scaled down the yellow page ads in the books to more efficient internet advertising. Among a host of other things to cut costs and add to the bottom line.

Hope everyone get s piece of the cake....
