Re: As the Juggernaut Rolls On, Here’s a Conspiracy Theory for You

How good is your smart lobbyist ?
I don't think so. Technology will not allow it because it cuts both ways. As soon as old-timers figure that out and quit chasing their tail the better off the future of our industry will be. Let's watch Uber and see if government entities and their crony cab companies can put them out of business. The police in Austin ran a sting on Uber drivers during SXSW last week. The food trailers are in Austin to stay and it is the brick & mortar restaurants that can't meet the cities progressive codes and be able to afford to get the permits needed for new construction or remodeling.

3 D printers will make reverse engineering anything more cost effective to reproduce. Everything is about to change. Even the old brick and mortar construction will be replace by very large 3D printers in the future.

Can you please translate into plain English? I''m either to old to to dumb to understand what you are trying to say.

Re: As the Juggernaut Rolls On, Here’s a Conspiracy Theory for You

Safelite already has mobile "Repair Medics". You don't think they can easily transition to mobile from "brick & mortar"?

We have to get the FTC to open their eyes and enforce the laws!

Safelite has already overplayed their hand. They have already admitted in the CT court documents they are competitors to non-Safelite (Indy) shops and even biased toward Safelite shops. They state that it is unfair for the state to require them to mention a non-Safelite competitor if they want to also mention one of their Safelite shops because the customer might think something is wrong with their shop.

In other words, Safelite has made our case for us! Only it is much worse when an insurance company steers a policyholder to Safelite because coercion takes place. Policyholders make their decisions out of fear. They are afraid that if they don't do what their insurance company wants, their claim will be denied, premiums may be increased or that their policy may be cancelled. The most preposterous thing is when the insurance company forces a non-Safelite shop chosen by one of their policyholders to deal with Safelite during the claims process.

We need to raise the blindfolds and remove the blinders from not only, the FTC but also, every State Attorney General and every State Insurance Commissioner.

Re: As the Juggernaut Rolls On, Here’s a Conspiracy Theory for You

I can see why paranoid has indentified the plan, but I don't see the effects happening. (maybe should be labeled: cause and effect)

Barriers to entry are so low that all the spun off AGRR folks that take jobs at WalMart - would rush in to fill the void when all the Brick & Morters go out of busines. Lay an ambitious tech off and he starts his own gig when he cleans out his pick up and throws a glass rack up there. Too many gents can install a windshield that doesn't leak... and buy it from Service or PGW or Pilk or Mygrant. all it takes is his credit card and you got one more guy buying at true wholesale and another competitor.

I think you may have missed my point. BIG TPA comes out against mobile installs. People would believe their "Insurance Co." is telling them mobile installs are verboten & demand in shop installs. Thus eliminating a major portion of their competition over night.

Prohibition doesn't work. They can't put the genie back in the bottle since TPAs control only part of the pie.

From the minds of "I'm not paranoid, They really are out to get me!!"
Plan:
1.Promote mobile service and getting rid of brick & mortar shops. Quietly buy large chains of brick & mortar locations.

2.Wholesale glass & supplies extremely cheap to all your competitors.

3.Insert yourself between Indies and the Insurance Companies. This will give you strong control of market pricing, how and where the work will be done.

Effect:
1a. Once most shops are gone, denounce mobile installs as unsafe & extremely damaging to the cars & puts the occupants at extreme risk. This will immediately cut a MAJOR portion of your nationwide competition due to their lack of shops or being geared to mostly mobile service.
2a. Greatly reduce Independent wholesalers selling to Indies & raise your wholesale prices to remaining Indie AGR shops. Make a lot of parts unavailable to Indies and keep for your own use.
3a. once you denounce mobile service you can divest your TPA of all mobile operators & have a legitimate reason for having replacements done in your own locations. Raise prices to Insurance Companies.
