Sub-Contracting in AZ

Anybody out there sub contract work in Arizona? I am looking at employing hourly versus sub-contracting and I am curious as to if as an owner you carry workers comp insurance on yur subs. Or if you have to in AZ. I am sure you have to have a general liabilty policy on them...let me know if you deal with this and if yo have any answers. Thanks

Re: Sub-Contracting in AZ

You can try going to Migrant Glass and ask the workers if auto shops are looking. I know they sometimes have leads. I heard threw the grapevine.
Good look to you. http://www.autoglasstips.blogspot.com

Re: Sub-Contracting in AZ

Not looking to employ subs...I pay hourly currently...I was just wondering from people who hire subs.....do they pay workers comp insurance and make sure the sub has a general liabilty policy. researching this I saw that there mat be an option for the sub to sign off on workers comp as an option.
Just curious.

Re: Sub-Contracting in AZ

In Arizona, I don't know of any company who carries general liablity on their subs. The subs are required to carry their own general liability but most do not. They can waiver the workers comp insurance in many states including Arizona.

Re: Sub-Contracting in AZ

I worked as an independent contractor once had to give copy of business license and other information required by IRS. for his records. Other issues you can't control when they work ect. Check Irs. Bob since 1999.

Re: Sub-Contracting in AZ

I know many glass shops and independant installers in AZ. You do not need workers comp. As far as liability insurance, you ideally should make sure they have it, although most will not. However, that being said I would highly suggest using a sub and paying per piece unless you are established and doing a good volume. I don't have a glass shop, I just provide lines of credit for glass shops (lightning capital), provide software (glassbiller) and billing services but if you need installers let me know and I can give you a list!
