Belron vs Safelite

Interesting new development that being the possible and seemingly imminent acquisition of Safelite by Belron.

Particularly when Belron has never been in the practice of sub contracting any profitable business throughout their acquisitive corporate history.

Seems to me Belron will need to initially sub work just as Safelite needed to when they didn't want to service some losing proposition or another.

At first glance.

If history repeats itself and if Belron DOES acquire Safelite there will be more than enough dumb bells out there in La La land with not enough sense to constipate a gnat who will ignorantly feed the monster while meanwhile further destroying the independents in our business.

Any fool who switches from one blood sucking network like the Sxxxxxxe entity to another had better start thinking about some other business to build for their future or for the future of their family.

They were disastrous; Belron will turn out to be even worse.

Check out both of them for yourself.

Re: Belron vs Safelite

Check out my response in the other Belron thread. The one thing we have found is many agents and customers do not like the feel of a major corporation doing their glass. Safety has become a huge issue, and when your windshield is being replaced in 30 minutes versus one hour, you have to wonder what is being compromised.

Also the general public needs to be informed about the off-shore company that is moving in. What is Mygrant and PPG going to do? Stand by? Use them to your advantage because the have a huge stake in the Belron game.

Likewise, what about Farmers? They don't like the sloppy work now from Safelite. KEEP YOUR CUSTOMERS INFORMED. Agents typically do not keep up with the trends within the business, so it's YOUR job to make sure they know.

We are looking at this as an opportunity. We went through this with Belron and Elite and we have expanded because of it.

One of our installers spoke with a Safelite person yesterday and they got their walking papers already. It's an opportunity to pick and choose the installers you want.

Benswinger is probably in the same position. With Vitro doing debt restructuring, it looks like thay are trying to position themselves for a buy-out. From our standpoint it's just another opportunity. We have picked up a CSR and a couple installers. Give them a phone and let them tell their customers what is going on. You'd be surprised with the reactions. We are considering another shop because of this.

Re: Belron vs Safelite

You are right about it being an oppurtunity.

Its going to get really interesting if Binswanger gets bought out as well as Safelite.

How long before Diamond and Guardian are on the chopping block?

Fun times these are that we live in.
