GLASS INSURANCE ?

WHY SHOULD A WINDSHIELD BE COVERED BY INSURANCE WHEN THINGS LIKE TIRES AND BRAKES ARE NOT ?

Re: GLASS INSURANCE ?

have you lost your mind?

Re: GLASS INSURANCE ?

IS IT NOT COMING TO THIS BRAKES ARE FOR SAFETY TIRES ARE FOR SAFETY THEY ARE NOT COVERED TAKE THE BIG INSURANCE MONEY OUT THEN YOU RID YOURSELF OF BIG COMPANYS BECAUSE THEIR PROFIT MARGIN ISNT THERE AND THEY WILL BAIL OUT PLUS IT MAKES IT A MORE FAIR PLAYING FIELD NO KISSING BUTT WITH INSURANCE COMPANYS AND TRYING TO COMPETE WITH ALL THE FREEBIES NAME ONE COMPANY THAT DOMINATES AND CONTROLS EITHER THE TIRE MARKET OR BRAKE MARKET ? AND WHERE DO THEY GET ALL THERE MATERIAL ? CHINA SWITCH THE MARKET TO EXPRESS GLASS REPAIR OFFER LIFETIME WARRANTY WHICH MEANS NOTHING DO VOLUME AND PROFIT

Re: GLASS INSURANCE ?

I see GSB's point.

The answer to your question GSB, is, simply, that tires and brakes are not covered under the policy, and glass is. Optionally of course, if a consumer buys the comprehensive coverage.

But to your point, and you make a good one, many feel you are right, and that you will see this exclusion of glass come to pass. In light of high deductibles and ever decreasing "fair and reasonable" allowed rates, it already has.

The big boys are most definitely gearing up for the new level playing field you speak of, and the hot buzz words are 'branding' and 'consumer friendly' with 'safety' and 'quality' following a close second. So far, price is still leading the focus, but we all know that that can't last. Once the insurance 'subsidies' are gone, the cash market must adapt to stabilize itself, unless the market and industry allows itself to evolve into those that are content to work for beer money. I just don't/can't see that happening.

So: marketing the consumer, focusing on your customer base, renewing those relations that we likely should have been nurturing all this time anyway, is a risk , how? If the insurers stay in the glass insurance biz, it's still a win/win situation for shops. You've still educated/marketed the customer to choose your 'branded' shop.

I'm guessing that once this industry get's its customers back, first contact specifically, it will never allow a third party to take it away from it again. Not if we're smart and learn from our mistakes and history, that is.

Re: GLASS INSURANCE ?

Glass is not a normal item that "wares" out like brakes and tires, not every car will have a glass replacement in its lifetime of 100,000 miles, but brakes and tires will be replaced, so its not a ware item
