Vin Decoding prior to 81

Does anyone have info about decoding VIN #'s prior to 81? We have a 13 digit VIN. Customer says it's a 73 Dodge but we want to be sure. Here is the VIN...if anyone can help out, we thank you.

Tried already.

Re: Vin Decoding prior to 81

Look at the red stoplight lens. As I recall, in those days, they always put the year on it, after the "ASA"

According to my old Mopar books I believe that VIN belongs to a 1973 Dodge Dart, 2 Door Sports Hardtop.

No Magician, just google!

Re: Vin Decoding prior to 81

That would be a 73 Dodge

Chrysler and GM used the 6th digit, Ford used the 1st (but don't) count the "f", and AMC used the 2nd digit in the 70's. Prior to that, it was common to look at tail lights.
