05 jeep grand cherokee dw1592. PPG windshield. Of course customer was a friend of mine. We replace the windshield and he picks it up after hours. Calls back the next day saying his rearview mirror is hanging. When he brings it in it's hanging. Were reglue and send him on his way.
Two days later he calls saying his wipers kick on intermittently for no apparent reason. He brings it back in and we check. He has it set on all the time. We check it out in the shop and is working.
Does anyone have any idea why it might go on intermittently when it is not raining. Has there been any issues regarding this type of problem.

Many of these rain sensor units have to be "reset" after removal to re-calibrate. Some owners manuals will give you the procedures for this.
We have had this problem with Jeep Grand Cherokees. Also check the rain sensor gel pack. Jeeps seem to be very sensitive to ANY airbubbles in the gel pack, especially if you tried to reuse the old gel pac.
We have had the same problem as you described, I replaced with a mopar window and no problems? Concidence i think but who know :) Spoiled people with there fancy windshields :)
Have done 2 of these with no problem, we used mopor both times, did see a factory 1592 rain sensor fall off once, factory approved a new w/s under warranty. ppg may make this w/s for mopar, check the dot#
