WHO WON?!

Re: tech olympics

Rob Grace of Cindy Rowe Auto Glass.

Re: tech olympics

It was one hell of a show!

Re: tech olympics

So how did the contestants from Diamond fare?

Re: tech olympics

Funny you should ask since I was thinking the same thing!!! I know one of the judges quite well and I plan on making a call to see if I can get some "insider" reviews on the competition. Should be interesting.

Re: tech olympics

The contest is a joke. Not enough judges around to judge fairly. Timekeepers were allowed to check things off for the judges, Some timekeepers knew absolutely nothing about auto glass. Some people had a taurus and some had a chevy equinox. Not exactly a fair shake.

Re: tech olympics

The differance between a Taurus and an Equinox is quite a bit. Definitley not a fair shake. You'd think they'd all be working on the same type of car. I can do a Taurus in 30 minutes.

Re: tech olympics

I was there, and spoke with the Diamond technicians.
They were professional, respectful and top notch.
You don't get there by being a hack

Re: tech olympics

Why would anyone send a "hack", they're left behind to do the slop and drops so we can fix 'em later.

Re: tech olympics

To be taken seriously and have some credibility, the cars should have all been the same. Judges should have all been AGR techs.
The Olympics was a fun event But on a serious issue.
No matter how you structure the competition someone will have a complaint.
The playing field should be even and knowledgeable (I love spell check) Judges should be in place. This will legitimize the outcome.
FYI I don't agree with the Olympics. I don't think it gives you a true picture of every day installations.
I don't need someone telling me how good or bad my work is. The cars do that themselves

Re: tech olympics

I know that attempts were made to acquire all of the same type vehicle for the event but it was logistically impossible. There were many hoops to jump through just to have vehicles inside the building, let alone all identical make and model for 30 contestants.

Re: tech olympics

With that in mind Bryan, if all the judges were techs as well they could consider factors like Taurus vs. Equinox is a very much different PROPER install/removal. I still think it's a cool thing though and good for the techs to be recognized and take a day or two out of the norm. Congratulations to all who made it.

Re: tech olympics

I'm not trying to take the side of the event but I really don't understand the foundation of your comments. Who among the judges was not qualified to judge the event?

Re: tech olympics

Incredible resumes one and all...I don't believe they are all out running around and installing on an everyday, or any day basis, that's all. I shoulda said practicing AGR techs I guess. My bad.

Re: tech olympics

I think its a conspiracy BY AGRSS to have diamond dominate the market.... Or mabey its the drugs i did this morning... not sure :)

Re: tech olympics
