I have been looking for any info on the paint problems that GM has had with peeling paint around 96 GM cars with certain colors if anyone has info it would be of great help to me feel free to e-mail or fax me any info! Thank You Rick
Rick, that was a way's back, but if memory serves, I believe that around that time there were some issues with paint for vehicles from 93 to 95 or 96. During that time, I worked for a company and I can remember some paint peeling issues. After doing a little searching it turned out that there were either primer or paint issues. I can remember major problems with cavaliers. If you go on to GM's website, you MIGHT be able to find something in recalls. Honestly don't know if it will got that far back or not, but it would be worth a try. Good luck with it!
Rick, the biggest problems we found were with blue, silver & red..... GM did have a tech bulleten at that time... i'll search my old files as soon as i can find them.
Rick you must be young (LUCKY). That was a tremendous problem in the early '90's.....mostly blue paint on any GM vehicle (around here anyways). Any molding retention tape would peel paint, we even got 3M to pay for a few paint jobs til they got smart and realized GM recalled many vehicles with specific paint codes, and even warranteed some when the orig. warranty expired. My ma had a 1991 Bonnie that looked like it went through a sandblaster by the time she sold it a few years ago.
