Have customers come in sometimes with hair-line scratches in windshields. Are there any alternatives to removing them besides buffing (which we don't do for obvious reasons)
YOu can try Cerium Oxide from CRL. It can remove some light scratches. I recommend ordereing their buffing wheel and running it in a variable speed cordless drill.
Derek, you'd have to buff wiper scratches with a small buffing wheel for six months to get 'em out. There are WR companies out there that sell excellent scratch removal systems, but are costly; in other words they are designed for more than just a few w/s scratches a month to make any $$$$$.
I have buffed out scratches from wipers but ended with distortion. To use a buffing head and compound takes so much time it's not worth it. I don't know about the new type systems.
