we aren't the only ones feeling the pinch of this economy

i hope you people are happy, you should feel guilty, the poor insurance companies profits are down by 9.3 percent for the first half of the year. Most of the losses come from the investment sector, luckily, and you can all rest well, the first half net income was a measly 28.6 billion dollars, luckily they still make a pittance on raising premium rates, that is where they are making up the difference for bad investment returns.

26 billion dollars has the insurance industry on pace for another record year, last year they scraped by with a 45 billion dollar profit,,,luckily that doesn't include the 40 billion they stuck in reserves, as we all can agree reserves don't actually count as profit. If it wasn't for that reserve fund, i might actually think they are making to much profit.

Please learn from this, when your investments are down, raise rates to offset bad returns, and you can have a record setting year too!

OMG,
Print up a copy of something with Insurance Company on it and use it for a dart board. But, don't kick the puppy. He didn't do anything to you!! LOL!!

Re: we aren't the only ones feeling the pinch of this economy

Jeez, let's hope they make better investments with our premiums next year. We may have to eventually bail them out LOL. They are just lucky that their product is required by Lienholders, Mortgage Co.'s, and the states(liability ins) etc, etc, and that the owners of the product in question try NEVER EVER to use it. Imagine how desperate their situation could get if any of that ever changed. Of course with all the politicians and lobbyist they have at work for their interest, I got a feeling they'll do OK.
