Some things to consider when you are told you are only allowed a gross markup of X% past cost. See what Allstate wants for a gross "profit" (not markup) on premiums, not counting their investment income.
Earthquake insurance is a FRAUD. A quake of any size in a populated area will cause far more damage than most insurance companies have. An 8.5 magnitude quake centered in San Fran or LA will make Katrina seem like a fond memory from our childhood. The ins. co. will have taken in all those premiums and will just ask the government to bail them out. Just like hurricane Andrew in Miami and the bad Mississippi River floods of the mid 80's.
