Good names

Anyone got any good ideas for a company name? I have a few, but thought it would be cool to see what others thought. What are your compnay names?

Re: Good names

Make sure that you get a name that will put you at the top of the phonebook list.It does seem to help if you can sell glass.Alot will disagree though, works very well for us.

Re: Good names

You could put a fuel pup out & breed donkies.
You cold be the one stop for:
Glass, Gas & Ass

Re: Good names

How about company motto " You Bet Your Ass we got Glass"

Re: Good names

We do GLASS: Glass Lick And Stick Service

Re: Good names

Dont't Let Them See Your Crack

Re: Good names

Cracks Are Us

Re: Good names

What are you in to? You need something that fits your personality!! You also need something catchy that people will remember. Something that show's your character but is still professional.

Re: Good names

GLASS, hell we're no help at all are we? Just a bunch of goofballs.

Re: Good names

How 'bout: ANY GLASS $125.00 GLASS?..Wait that's Klassy's motto.

Re: Good names

but a nice bunch of goofballs!

Re: Good names

CRACK, PIPE, AND GLASS

Re: Good names

I had a competitor here years back tried several that backfired badly. lol

"Let us check your crack!"
"We'll take care of your crack!"
"We can fill your crack!"

Point is, if you want to be seen as a goofball, fine. If you don't, stick with the professional jingles.

THe most radical we have ever done was for our flat glass marketing, the ad centered around Mr. Klutz (pronounced Klootz) that lived in a completely glass house with glass furniture ect. Of course, he breaks things regularly, and noted without our company, he'd be in a terrible state. With that ad, we tagged the jingle "A clear pane in the glass".

Didn't stick with it long, while we got comments about how cute it was, we couldn't attribute it to additional sales.

Geico has the same thing with the gecco, notability to the Geico name, yes, but they can't show it's actually increasing sales any, and Progressive continues to take market share with the professional ads about their website.

Conclusion: stick to the professional ads.

UP YOUR GLASS...

Re: Good names

I thought about using "Auto Glass Ninja" as a name, but my wife said it was dumb and people wouldn't take me seriously. Other names I have thought of are:

Auto Glass Solutions (starts with "A" so it would be at the top of the phone book listing)

Windshield Solutions (avoids the overused "auto glass", but still sounds professional)

Titan Auto Glass (kinda fits in with names like Guardian)

Patriot Auto Glass (I'm a New England Patriots fan)

Scotsman Auto Glass (Celebrating my scottish heritage and also my nickname "Scotsman")

My wife said we should call it BAD ASS AUTO GLASS

Re: Good names

How about just using the initials like your posting name - AGN Auto Glass or AGN Glass or something like that?

Re: Good names

I thought about that too! AGN Auto Glass does have a certain ring to it!

Hey maybe I could even rip off this ninja smiley and use it as a logo!

Re: Good names

AGN Windshield Solutions

Re: Good names

SAFERIGHT GLASS

Re: Good names

glASSpricks is the name of my fantasy baseball team. Named after those tiny tempered shards that inbed themselves in cloth seat covers. Most of the other players just call me ***** for short.

Re: Good names

My co. name has 2 A's in autoglass. ( AAutoglass ).
Puts me first in every phone book.
The only problem that I have seen being first is you don't have a chance to bid lower prices against other's bids. So being first really isn't that great. But your still #1.

Re: Good names

How do you get to be first in the books with AA. Here who ever spends the most gets first in the books. Good old SBC. Triumph was always first since the had 2 pages.

Re: Good names

AAA MEXICO AUTO GLASS, soon to be in your area.

Re: Good names

Try 'Satellite Glass'.

It has a nice ring to it, and it resembles the name of a QUALITY, TOP NOTCH pre-existing company. Try 'Satellite Glass' and i guarantee that you'll get a reputation quickly!!!

Re: Good names

Listen to the folks advising you about the "A" thing, believe it or not our company name starts with an X. So when we do YP ads we always go color, or white knockout background it makes your add POP off the page if your not in the front, which you will be if as someone said, you pay enough $$

Re: Good names

My company name begins with A, which means in the white pages I am right at the front, In the yellow pages I am toward the back which is okay with me because by the time people get around to calling me that have already got most of their quotes and it's easier to get the job with the first call. I do use a color ad in the YP though. It really jumps out and grabs you. LOL!!

Re: Good names

try: AA Auto Glass , Auto Glass 4 U ,
Auto Glass Specialist , Auto Glass Depot
Auto Glass Service

Re: Good names

Use your name last name. Last Name Auto Glass. People like to know who they are dealing with and they won't get confused when they become a repeat customer.

Re: Good names

I'm trying to figure out which phone book to use. None of them are easy to get a hold of. I don't even know if I'm going to be able to afford a YP ad. All the big boys have pretty good sized ads, most of the little guys are just listed.

Re: Good names

Are you in a large or a small area? Sometimes, if it's a small area, you can get a pretty good deal, particularly being a new customer, they may give you a discount for the first year at least. But then, you wont have the coverage that you would have with a large city either.

Re: Good names

Hows about: Auto Glass Network (AGN). Or Auto Glazing Network.
We took our name, Premier Autoglazing, from the first think we saw. Which happened to be a satelite movie channel and Autoglazing was used because everyone goes for glass or windscreen. Either way keep it simple and people will remember. The same also applies to getting your van signwritten. Keep it simple and people will be able to read it better as you shoot past! My van just has our name, logo and phone number on. Also colour-coded the bumpers and stuck on some alloy wheels to make it stand out a bit better.

Re: Good names

Hey Good Morning all, I see your still working on the name situation. Did you start your new job today, if so are you communicating with a laptop,(of couse I didn't check the time of post could have been over the weekend) I remember you mentioning a Verizon card for vendor communication once you start up on your own? Regarding what Glass Lady said about your location impacting your YP cost, she is exactly right, I've mentioned we are in 5 diffeent books, only 3 are Real Yellow Pages, and we get a deal because we're in more than one book, the other 2 are small "area" books. Due to this being primarily rural areas (we have a few towns with 50,000 plus population but that's about as big as our service areas get, The small regional books are only appx 700-900 year, and they cover 2-3 counties, they are delivered to all homes and busineses with listed numbers. The company who handles (sales) adds in these regional directories is located in Chesterfield, MO., we are in AL so they must handle directories nationwide. If you want the info let me know and we'll find a way for me to get it to you, I don't know if Webmaster will let me put the info on the forum (could fall into free advertising for the co.), if Webmaster say's it's OK I'll give you the name and number in a following reply....hope your liking your new job so far!

Re: Good names

Yeah I see it was Saturday when Ninja posted, guess we won't be hearing from him today.
