OnStar

Anyone ever 'unpluged' the wires from the rear view mirror on a car equipped w/ OnStar? I THINK i read an article about the OnStar police ( ) sending out help if the wire gets unpluged? anybody ever heard of this. Since then i've always removed the mirror and and just left the wires connected.

Re: OnStar

I always try and unplug the mirrors to get them out of the way. I've never had a problems yet, but then I really don't pay attention to whether OnStar is present or not.

Re: OnStar

That would be a good question for on star, why not call them and ask or ask a service person.. I never have heard this before.. as if your batter went dead = no on star right?

Re: OnStar

We have heard of this problem but have never experienced it. We also just unhook mirror and let it hang. These usually have such a large wire bundle that it is not a problem.
A problem we see more common is the compass going out. The vehicle manuals have the simple reset procedure which usually require the simple pushing and holding of a button and then driving the vehicle in circles or just driving the vehicle.
