Doug my shop is not a AGRSS member. I have thought long and hard about joining but i have encountered shops in my area who are a member not following standards with urethane, drive away time ect. They also sub contract many of their jobs. I do not want to spend more of my time/money managing to meet AGRSS standards when at the end of the day I have to answer for our service anyway. I know there may be shops following AGRSS 100% but the ones I have encountered have not but declare themselves a member. I rather run my business and have to meet my standerds because at the end of the day if i meet my standards i can sleep at night. Do the insurance companies really care? By the way the prices and discounts are going I would say they dont care. Is Belron a member?
What are everyone’s feelings on the AGRSS standards?
Nice to have when looking for a qualified tech I guess
Do you feel they are making a difference?
Not one bit really. Just more money to spend.
Has it helped you at all?
No nothing has changed
Do you think the customer knows anything about it before you explain it to them?
My customer's know nothing about it and most don't really care.
Does it make you sleep better knowing your doing the right thing?
But of course
Do you think the other guy down the road is following the standard when his windshield are $130?
I doubt it but then again I don't really care if he is or isn't.
Can you get a better billing rate from an insurance company because of it?
Is that a joke! Of course not, they just keep lowering the discounts even more.
How will you adjust with list prices and labor rates getting lower and lower?
Same as usual, keep working.
Now it's my turn to ask you a question.
Has your profit increased due to the new insurance requirements? Just curious!
I really don't do much insurance work. No need. I'll bill the customer and let them submit the bill. As for profit its about the same. If I feel im not making a fair amount of money, I tell them to go to someone else.
