Lincoln towncar rain sensor

We have an 05 town car DW1463, the rain sensor is adhered to the face of the glass inside the metal bracket.

Is there a special adhesive/tape to install? How is the sensor removed without damage? Lincoln dealer was no help.

Thanks

Re: Lincoln towncar rain sensor

Call a independent glass shop to do this. Its hard to believe if you are installing glass you dont know this.

Re: Lincoln towncar rain sensor

Can't someone ask a simple question? Geeeeeeezzz

Re: Lincoln towncar rain sensor

Phred, you need the rain sensor kit made for that w/s. Some rain sensors can be removed without damage using heat, but will probably crack the w/s, and only a few work that way ,, get the rain sensor kit from from your distributor. Or bring it to the pro's,, who know's hth's

Re: Lincoln towncar rain sensor

Phred you don't need a rain sensor kit just unclip the two clips on the sides of the sensor and pull it off the glass there is a rubber membrane on the sensor that sticks to the glass for good contact, there is no glue involved with the rain sensor. The sensor is reusable just like the lincoln ls

Re: Lincoln towncar rain sensor

We just did one last week. The customer had it done previously by another large company. He had nothing but problems with the rain sensor afterwards. The dealership was able to resolve the issue by using the rain sensor kit.
We have tried (once, maybe twice) using the pilkington rain sensor kit. They were junk. Anyone know of a GOOD rain sensor kit? The dealer just wants way too much!
