Here is some info I've got that may help others to direct bill State Farm.

In all honesty, when I direct bill, I send it to the agents. This has worked with agents I am familiar with, and some I've never spoken to. I include my invoice, a pay authorization signed by the customer, and (at least the first few times) a letter explaining why I believe my price is fair (even if not the lowest), and explaining that I am not willing to allow Lynx involvement, as is my right.
Doing things this way has worked very well for me. I hope it helps some others out there.
