Hello, I had reservation in Myrtle Beach to stay at the Plantation resort. RCI had me combine my weeks to get 2 vacations this year costing me $300 each! The reservation was for Aug 26 a day before Hurricane Irene was to hit the Carolina shores.
I called the resort who told me it was blowing out and will miss them (Myrtle Beach area) by 150 miles. I informed them that is good for them but I am in the path of Irene after that (Long Island). They informed me to call RCI. Rci said because the hurricane was not projected to hit the timeshare and i did not purchase INSURANCE... I was out of luck BUT the best travel day to get there would be Friday (13 hour drive).
In the end, after numerous calls to RCI they gave me my week back but I only had 30 days to book a place for next week... I told them fine, I will take the same place... It is unavailable (of course!).
Now, do I fight for my money back or to get the same place? Not sure what actions I have at this time...
