"Listen To What The Man Said" is one of my favourite Wings songs but AFAIK there is no official video

I'm sure that there are many others that will come to mind later on, but this is largely based on a list I have kept over the years.
Digital Emotion with Go Go Yellow Screen would be BLISS!!!!!!!!

As would Depeche Mode with Leave In Silence and The Meaning Of Love. At least rage played the video to See You on their Vault Special a few years ago.

Any Fancy clips would be great, especially Chinese Eyes.

Of course Nana with Na Na Na Hey (Kiss Him Goodbye), The Wild Life, Do Not Disturb, A Trick Of The Night would be fabbbbbb!

And Haywoode, Brilliant, Hazell Dean, Shakespeare’s Sister and E.G Daily. I do have Say It, Say It in NTSC format.

I have a brilliant copy of Kim with The Second Time from her Laser Disc release and a pretty good copy of The Touch from Lee who is on this Forum. The Touch wasn’t released in Australia and rage don’t seem to have The Second Time, it seems....

Re: 2019 VAULT recommendations - songs never played before

I’m not sure that an official music clip exists for ‘Dreamin’ from Cliff Richard. I remember seeing the clip at the time though it was taken from the American Late night music series The Midnight Special from 1980.

'See You' was one I suggested prior to the 2014 Saturday night Vault special when it aired, so I'd like to take credit for that one

Depeche Mode have since released DVDs containing those earlier music videos that were not on previous releases, but they're in c r a p p y, dull NTSC. So we need rage to air them.

Ditto those Bananarama clips I mentioned. Yes, they're on the '30 Years of' DVD, but it's in NTSC, so you may as well be watching VHS.

I have 'Say It, Say It' in NTSC too, but I'd love a PAL copy.

I have a good official VHS copy of 'The Touch', but a digital rip from rage would be better (so long as it's not stretched touching the watermark).

I used a clip for 'Dreamin'' in one of my Australian end of year chart videos, I'm pretty sure - which ever year it was out/charting here. I think I sourced it from YouTube though, and can't now recall if it was a music video or a TV performance (the lines between the two are a bit blurred, anyway, in the 70s/early 80s).

Re: 2019 VAULT recommendations - songs never played before

What about this film clip of Dreaming' by Cliff Richard? Vevo are usually quite 'official'.

Love your list Jason. Here's another Culture Club one ...

Love Is Love - Culture Club

Re: 2019 VAULT recommendations - songs never played before

Gee seeing all these lists of songs and artists makes you realise even with Rage extensive music video clip library just how many music clips still could yet be played even now to this day.

Re: 2019 VAULT recommendations - songs never played before

The retro nerdliness levels in this thread are extreme (or maybe I should say "off the charts") and I am here for it!
It's a pity there isn't someone with this kind of dedication involved in programming Rage.

Re: 2019 VAULT recommendations - songs never played before

One I forgot from 1986:

Suzanne Vega 'Left of Center' - has aired in 2000 and 2012, but was before digital TV in 2000, and plastered with the ABC1 watermark in 2012. It's not on the PAL version of her DVD.

I second Jason's suggestions for Kim Carnes' 'Voyeur' and Toto Coelo's 'Milk From the Coconut' (it's Toto, not To To).

As much as I'd love to see O'Chi Brown's '100% Pure Pain' on rage, it was not released as a single in Australia - at least, it does not appear in any of the Kent Music Report lists of new releases in 1986 (only 'Whenever You Need Somebody' and 'Rock Your Baby' do) - so rage probably can't air it (unless they wish to obtain a copy of the video).

Similarly, Neneh Chery's 'Inna City Mama' was not released as a single in Australia. An Australian-pressed copy is listed on discogs, but this is presumably for its New Zealand distribution. Yes, they got 'Inna City Mamma' as the 4th 'Raw Like Sushi' single, whereas we got 'Heart'.

Neither Stacey Q's 'I Love You' nor Princess's 'Tell Me Tomorrow' were released as singles locally, either.

If I was in charge, rage goes retro would be filled with Countdown on Saturday nights and a Saturday mornings would be dedicated to Rock Arena on Saturday mornings as my passion for Countdown is full MAX and has been my whole life.

I am miserable with it ending again 😞 This Saturday night will be so sad

Re: 2019 VAULT recommendations - songs never played before

I read or seen it maybe on Twitter that Rage are playing a Countdown show this Saturday too. Can anyone confirm or deny? Let’s hope so anyway. Although like many others on here I’m not fussed on Recovery or 10.30 Slot being replayed this soon as part of Rage Retro Month. I know there are a few that still want to see this era in music played too so I guess Rage are just trying to satisfy each demographic at the end of the day. I’m still pretty satisfied with the first 3 weeks so far for this year and like Jason or anybody else while it is sad there is always next January to look forward to. Years seem to go much quicker these days or probably it is me just getting older. 🤔😄🙏

Re: 2019 VAULT recommendations - songs never played before

I too have some more Rage music video clips that to my knowledge have never aired on Rage so far...

Any Day Of The Week - The Crocodiles (1979)

Re: 2019 VAULT recommendations - songs never played before

So who here is going to upload the Countdown video with Lynda Nutter intro to Youtube...I'm over the Video Hits copy! :grinning:

Re: 2019 VAULT recommendations - songs never played before

@Scott - some of those clips you’ve requested in your first post have been shown on rage in the digital era:

Losing You - Sharon O’Neill - as part of a Rock Arena replay
Danger - Sharon O’Neill - as part of a Countdown replay
Power - Sharon O’Neill - as part of an Antenna replay

Re: 2019 VAULT recommendations - songs never played before

@Scott - clips from your second post that have been shown:

Baby It’s You - Promises (this has been shown quite a few times)
Idiot Grin - Do Re Mi - as part of a Rock Arena replay

I’m not aware of the clips from your third and fourth posts being shown but if I don’t follow a particular artist then I haven’t been on the lookout for their clips.

Re: 2019 VAULT recommendations - songs never played before

@Jason - Eurythmics “The Walk” (video clip with Annie in Black wig) has a very interesting history. Basically the clip is lost and there is no known high quality copy surviving anywhere in the world. If you go to my YouTube channel you’ll see my digital restoration of the last known copy which was from an extremely degraded Umatic tape copy kept by the director, Marek Budzynski.

Re: 2019 VAULT recommendations - songs never played before

Very happy that one of my requests was on Rage VAULT last night ...

Stumbling' In - Suzi Quatro & Chris Norman

Pleasantly surprised about the different film clip too. Not the one I've seen before. Thank you, Rage. :slightly_smiling_face:
