retro month week 3

Blurb now up:

https://www.abc.net.au/rage/guest/rage-retro-month:-week-three---1960s,-1970s,-and-1980s/10713276

It’s week three of Retro Month on Rage – dust off the shoulder pads because we're still firmly in the 80s, with some more Countdown and an episode of The Factory!

Guests on this round of retro month include Kate Ceberano, Ian Cox (of I'm Talking), Sting, a blink-and-you'll-miss-it roving interview with Rod Stewart, and a fantastic live performance by The Proclaimers.

We haven't forgotten all you flower children - we'll be taking you on a trip with some of the psych and prog classics of the 1960s and 1970s with Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, and Jefferson Airplane for our morning show.

Catch the third installment of Retro Month on Saturday, January 19 from 10am and later that night from 11:32pm on ABC TV.

Don’t forget, we’re going retro for the full month of January! So keep it locked for more retro music videos, live performances, interviews, full episodes of Countdown, GTK and many more old school goodies from the vault.

Re: retro month week 3

I requested an episode of The Factory for this retro month, but it wasn't this episode. The last episode of The Factory shown during retro month was in 2012.

It's 'only' a 2 hour episode, as the 1989 episodes were - so at least it won't eat into 3 hours of the show for those who prefer back to back Countdown.

The episode being shown seems to be this one:

Re: retro month week 3

I'm okay with The Factory- would prefer a Rock Arena but I also like the late 80's music scene.

Also what are the chances that three of the flower power videos are "White Rabbit" "See Emily Play" & "Are You Experienced"?!

I knew this was the Countdown episode they were playing, dits an episode l requested.

The Factory doesn’t look that bad, looking forward to Rita and Sparks. Tanya Lacey however grains on my nerves.

This week l get another Countdown request, l have so far got one episode a week, hopefully l get two episodes on week 4.

I too would prefer Rock Arena to The Factory as it goes for two hours and the late 80s don’t have the greatest electricity.

But it’s not a too crappy episode of The Factory

Re: retro month week 3

OMG - they are finally playing the first episode of 1985! I have been asking for this for years. It stumped me for years why they played every years episode except this one...and 'The Factory'. Although late '88 episode would have been better with Bros and Transvision Vamp. On another note, it's nice to be back posting on the forum along with some old time members :grinning:

Re: retro month week 3

YAY Michael,

I also requested this episode as I want it for Kate and Ian hosting from I'm Talking plus for I'm Talking performing in the studio which is on the Wonder Years DVD but to have it as a whole show will be FABULOUS! I also requested this episode for Culture Club's only video play of Mistake No.3

So we both get this episode :-) It helps when there are more than one requesting an episode

Re: retro month week 3

The problem with The Factory is that it goes for 2 hours and half of the show is very unfunny skits from Tanya Lacey and from what I see on the episode this weekend, sections of the show dedicated to Male urinals and a story on kissing, seriously? .... This could have been two Rock Arena episodes instead with a thing called MUSIC on there!

I’m getting a vibe... no Rock Arenas for me this year :disappointed:
I am getting the same vibe :-(

I have noticed since rage goes retro 2018 that Rock Arena is getting less and less played which is a pity. Countdown and Rock Arena back to back at least over two weekends work so brilliantly.

I love listening to Suzanne Dowling and seeing some rare gems and some UK and OZ performances etc ...

Why The Factory has out shined Rock Arena, I don't know.

Re: retro month week 3

I do love 'The Factory'. This was my music show back in the day. I literally watched every episode in '87 &'88. '89 is a bit of a blur for me and don't remember many from this year. Maybe because i was doing other stuff.

Re: retro month week 3

Really pumped to see the I’m Talking Countdown show from Feb 1985 as it was also a show I had as my requests for 2019. Really pleased also. Woohoo!!!
