Pre-1990 rage specials

Using The Age's Green Guide TV guide published on Thursdays, archived on newspapers.com (a paid site), I've extracted the following rage artist specials airing on a Saturday night:

6 May 1989 - Madonna
13 May 1989 - The Cult
27 May 1989 - AC/DC
3 June 1989 - The Cure
24 June 1989 - U2
15 July 1989 - Prince
22 July 1989 - Crowded House & Paul Kelly
18 November 1989 - Simple Minds

The months August, September and October 1989 are missing from their archives.

I have only listed weeks where the featured artist special is listed in The Age's TV guide.

TV guide for the first episode of rage with some interesting info about the different segments of the show:



The first episode of rage finished at 7:30am Saturday.

The first Saturday night episode aired from 12:20am Sunday through to 8am.

Nice. Does rage still have the specials list on their website going back to 1990? I copied it from their original site yonks ago, if you need it (I suspect you don't).

While I don't believe it's on the new site layout, it is still accessible through Wayback Machine-archived copies of the site. I hope they re-add it at some point.

There is a free site for The Age up to 1989 at
https://sites.google.com/site/onlinenewspapersite/Home/aus/vic

It is missing a fair few issues though. I hope they continue archiving newspapers online with Trove to include all newspapers up to the present day.

You can always go to the State Library in Melbourne to check out The Age on microfilm where they have all copies.

OK, I finally had a look at the link Armin linked above, and found:

30 September 1989 - Eurythmics (you were right, JASE)
21 October 1989 - All Australian music videos including Hunters & Collectors


There are several weeks' Green Guides missing from September and October on this archive, still.
