Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special

Armin
So.... was the theme 1989 clips? They seem to be from around that period
HI Armin,

I think you are dead right, at least 95% of these were from 1989.

I also sent you an email Armin, but it may have gone to your spam box as I have had to create an entirely new email address as yahoo won't let me into my original one. I hope this is okay!

Sorry guys I just read Nathan's post of some 1990 clips.

I'm not sure what the theme is tonight. The photo accompanying the playlist though showed someone sitting among a large collection of vinyl records.

Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special

I like it, but if there's a theme to that then I'm not seeing it!

Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special

Disappointing version of French Kiss played last week. They used to play the rude version during the top 50

I didn't check my recording for the track length, but I did notice that it was faded out before the moaning started. I remember there being some moans towards the end on the video shown when it was in the top 50; but the video was still shortened (it was made that way - the director, who uploaded an earlier take of the video on YouTube, said the record company would only pay for 2 and a half minutes' worth of footage).

As a side note... a while back I listed my copy of the Australian cassingle of 'French Kiss' on discogs.com, and 147 users have added it to their wants list! Why it is so popular, I don't know.

rage's instagram post for tonight's vault says this:

*EDIT: This program will now start at 1:24am* Some serious conversation stimulators coming up on the VAULT tonight from Katrina & The Waves, Righteous Brothers, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, The Velvet Underground, Ryuichi Sakamato and more. 1:59am on

Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special

Nathan...i have a long version on a cd where the moaning and slowed down beat is at the start...is this what you have??

Not as far as I know.

rage replied to my facebook comment asking what the theme for tonight's vault was. They posted a picture of a poster for John Cusack's 'High Fidelity', which (not being a movie buff at all) I assume is a film.

Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special

Monday night's playlist is up on the rage website now. It's a Pink Floyd vault, with some solo Roger Waters & Dave Gilmour clips in there too.

http://www.abc.net.au/rage/playlist/monday-night-30-july-2019-on-abc---vault/10045536

Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special

Next Monday night's playlist is up on the rage website already. It's a 1995 theme.

http://www.abc.net.au/rage/playlist/monday-night-6-august-2018-on-abc/10071500

Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special

You f#$kin' beauty 1995 good music and memories!

Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special

It looks like a nice playlist even though I would like to see more rarer and obscure content from that era.

Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special

Did anyone record this week's vault episode in 16:9, and haven't deleted it yet? My 16:9 recording stopped 2 hours in, so I missed about the last 1.5 hours.

My 4:3 recording worked, though. It's only for clips that are stretched beyond the 4:3 region of the screen that I'd potentially need the 16:9 recordings for.

Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special

It was good to see on this vault episode that rage did not blow up several letterboxed 4:3 clips to 16:9, as they normally do:

Spearhead - Hole In the Bucket
Madonna - You'll See
Pet Shop Boys - Paninaro '95
Rednex - Old Pop In an Oak

Others, though, were blown up, like 'Kiss From a Rose', 'U Sure Do', 'Too Hot', 'Sorrento Moon', 'You Belong To Me'.

Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special

Hi Nathan, i got the lot in 16:9. Let's trade and fix up their mess! LoL.

Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special

Hi Nathan, i got the lot in 16:9. Let's trade and fix up their mess! LoL.
Thanks, Michael!

I've still got a bunch of DVD's for you (and Jason the forum owner) lying around here. I'm going to get them sorted "soon".

Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special

Tonight's playlist was posted on the rage website on Friday:

http://www.abc.net.au/rage/playlist/monday-night-13-august-2018-on-abc/10107678

They've also thankfully added the theme there, which is the music of the Sopranos.

Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special

Next Monday's vault playlist is up on the rage website. The theme is maybe Australian alternative acts (though Southend is on there, and they're dance):

http://www.abc.net.au/rage/playlist/monday-night-20-august-2018-on-abc/10133414

Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special

Monday night's vault playlist is up again on the rage website. 1985-1986 seems to be the theme, with an alternative slant; although there is some poppier stuff towards the end.

http://www.abc.net.au/rage/playlist/monday-night-27-august-2018-on-abc/10162414

Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special

**** you rage. Finished early. No Wild Blue. No Jean Beauvoir.

Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special

I’ve wanted a nice copy of “Walk Away” for ages. First time rage has ever played this in its 30 year history! Thank you rage!!

I had an NTSC copy but like most NTSC conversions of PAL clips from that era, it was C R A P quality.

Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special

Wow. D a m n gets censored. Thought i better clarify in case people thought it was the other word.

Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special

I was very annoyed that they dropped 'Feel The Heat' and 'Alone Without You'.
I didn't know Wild Blue, but having just googled it (I see it was released here) I liked it. It's a shame they dropped that too.

Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special

I've suggested to Brad that those of us who want to see these 'dropped' from the playlist vault videos aired at some point should email rage and suggest that a vault episode be devoted to/contain these.

Some clips that were dropped from a vault episode in March 2017 I noted down were:

*PHIL COLLINS I Missed Again
TONE LOC Wild Thing
*TRIO Boom Boom
M Pop Muzik
DONNIE IRIS Ah! Leah!
*CITY BOY 5.7.0.5.
PULP Babies
SUPERGRASS Mansize Rooster
JON SPENCER EXPLOSION Talk About The Blues
BEASTS OF BOURBON Just Right
THE LIVING END Pictures In The Mirror

To my knowledge, the asterisked videos have not aired on other episodes of rage, during the digital era anyway. I know the Tone Loc, M, Pulp and Supergrass videos have definitely aired before, as have presumably the last 3 on this list.

Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special

Good idea Nathan.
Having looked back over the last page (there will obviously be more if you go back further), another couple they missed are :
THE SWINGERS It Ain't What You Dance, It's The Way You Dance It
POP MECHANIX Jumping Out A Window

I would request The Swingers, don't know Pop Mechanix.

^ Yep, certainly does. Though technically a few of those (Rozalla, Des'ree, and probably a couple of others) were released here in late 1991.

They aired a bad YouTube rip of Kris Kross's 'Warm It Up' when one of them died circa 2012-13; I assume it will be the same copy.

Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special

The theme for tonight's 'vault' could be 2005.

MSTRKRFT guest programmed in the second half of 2008, from memory, which is when I first heard/noticed this song/video. They chose some decent stuff, too.

Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special

Have never seen this Elvis Costello clip before, which is an interesting surprise - however, it certainly isn't the classic Don Letts clip.

Rage tend to do this a bit nowadays, messing up directors, artists (Dave Stewart vs David A. Stewart springs to mind), and playing the "Greatest Hits" remix clip rather than the original when doing the year-themed vault shows. Seems the quality control isn't what it used to be...

Agree with this last point, totally. Like the '96 remix of Rozalla's 'Everybody's Free (To Feel Good)', which aired a couple of week ago on the 1992-themed vault (even though the single came out in '91, though didn't peak here until early '92). It's like there is no oversight sometimes between what is intended to air, and what actually airs.

This isn't the only example - specific examples escape me now, but there have been several other occasions where the later remix version is aired instead on these year-specific vault specials.

edit - just remembered one - Interactive's 'Forever Young'. They aired the 2001 remix on the 1995-themed vault a couple of months ago.

I wonder if they compiled a list and then broke it up, as this all looks like "early" 1986, and the last one was all "late" 1986.
I'm happy with the selection.

Re: Late 90s Dance Vault played on ABC1 on March 5 2018

They haven’t played “Last Ditch Cabaret” for a very long time, so I was thrilled with that at least.

Re: Late 90s Dance Vault played on ABC1 on March 5 2018

^ Yes, it's always nice when rage air something that hasn't been shown in many years.

Tonight's Vault episode... not sure exactly what the theme is. I was thinking late 80s/early 90s sophistipop, with UK added initially - but Boy Meets Girl are American.

edit - I asked rage, and they replied: "sophisticated pop/blue-eyed soul".

Re: Late 90s Dance Vault played on ABC1 on March 5 2018

Looking ahead at https://www.abc.net.au/tv/programs/rage/, the next two vault episodes scheduled are relatively short ones compared to the longer episodes we've had recently, at 90 minutes next week, and 78 minutes the week after.

Re: Late 90s Dance Vault played on ABC1 on March 5 2018

Oops, I posted this in the wrong thread. Forgot to post this earlier... tonight's theme seems to be loosely 2001-3, which explains my lack of enthusiasm. It is on the rage website below:

Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special

The clip for ROYKSOPP “Remind Me” is really cool - good tune too. So too is CHEMICAL BROTHERS “Star Guitar”.

But yeh, I have both these clips they get played semi-regularly.
