Re: rage red book (the one guest programmers use)

I don't know that rage always still use the red book. They have a database of all their videos, too. When my playlist was aired in 2010, they phoned me to pick 2 other videos, and I could hear the person at the other end entering a couple of artist names I got them to look up, to see what they had.

The red book they showed in this documentary had a 2007 date on its cover. Surely it would be impossible for them to keep the book up to date, with new videos arriving every week and new archive videos being found.

Re: rage red book (the one guest programmers use)

Do you have any screenshots of the rage board which showed the plans for upcoming specials? I tried to look at it during the Story of rage show, however, I could not make out any of it except for maybe New Years Eve special.

Yep, and I'll upload it today. Stay tuned!

Re: rage red book (the one guest programmers use)

OK, I just realised it was a shot of the board for 2015, not this year, as e.g. August is the same (Splendour, Seth Sentry, Alpine, Dead Letter Circus, Tumbleweed).

D@mn. That means that a Vault special was scheduled for the last week of September 2015. Presumably they pushed it back to the one that aired in May 2016. In its place we got Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes, 2 American directors/comedians who appeared in Afroman's 'Because I Got High' video

I didn't think rage would plan *that* far ahead.

Re: rage red book (the one guest programmers use)

Clearly this is not the complete list of videos in the rage library, they have lots more Morrissey and Madonna clips than just the ones listed for example. I presume they have an electronic database now of the clips, but it's possible there are legacy databases or printed only catalogues (red books) which list all the clips they had up to a certain date, before they migrated to a new database.

This would be a nuisance since it means they don't have a single database of all their clips, but at least two sources of data and possibly more. I guess if they don't have the time, money and expertise to consolidate it (and the rage do say they have no budget!!) all then it stays as it is.

Maybe when I retire I'll volunteer to do all the database consolidation for free and then take a copy
