No Countdown Friday playlists are on the scans for 1, 8, 15 October 1982, though the regular Countdown Sunday playlists are there.
Fantastic work Nathan (and also Brad for obtaining these). That means we now have the playlists for 10 of the 20 episodes.
Jason may not have time to make another category for Countdown Friday playlists so at least they are all combined here for easier reference.
Due to the Commonwealth Games being on, Countdown Friday was not shown on October 1 or October 8 so I would have been surprised if you had found anything for those dates and it would have botched up my episode numbering.

Where did you get those COUNTDOWN snapshots saying Countdown Friday? WOW!!!!!!
Those Countdown Friday snapshots are just very basic as I played the one timecoded episode that I have got I took pictures of my TV screen. It's nothing fancy but as it is a different styling to what we have seen on the standard shows I thought someone might find the images interesting. I reckon it looks great.

Wonderful work Guru - answers a lot of questions I had as well. Great stuff
Are you able to look at 1983 and "Countdown Flipside" as well when you get a chance. Not sure there will be much besides TV guides etc. I would very much like to date the episodes I have as well - the only one I know for sure is the one with the football score plastered which will be easy enough to locate
Cheers
It's something that I had never looked into in detail before due to a lack of information but when Nathan added those playlists from Brad I felt I could do a bit of detective work and join the dots. TV guides had very little information but helped put the rest in place with the Commonwealth Games and World Cup soccer as I couldn't work out why the sequence numbering didn't equal the total number of weeks.
I will have a crack at the Flipside as well as I have got copies of your episodes. I think the progress score from the 1983 VFL Qualifying Final between Hawthorn and Fitzroy comes up on the screen of one episode so that one is easy to date. I know I was listening to the radio of that game at the time as Hawthorn got up with late goals to Loveridge and Tuck so I definitely didn't watch Flipside that day. I'll see what I can find regarding Flipside.

Good idea Guru to have them all in the one place.
The Kent Report has repeated Countdowns for 11th & 18th June 1982:
My theory that Countdown 2nd edition ran from June 4 to June 18 is therefore incorrect. 2nd Edition was only shown on June 4 while June 11 and 18 repeated themselves before going into the World Cup broadcasts.
Therefore July 9 and 16 were probably also repeated (I don't have the timecoded episodes of those to check the clapper board info) before Countdown Friday started up on July 23.
So the different programs shown were:
June 4 - Countdown Second Edition
July 23 to Dec 17 excepting Oct 1+8 - 20 Episodes of Countdown Friday
That is brilliant to have been able to put that together in an afternoon

Guru Bob
Thanks again Nathan
Thanks Brad, really
Definitely Thanks to Brad.
We have the playlist information for the Countdown Second Edition and 15 of the 20 Countdown Fridays.
We only need to find the playlists for
Ep 5 August 20
Ep 6 August 27
Ep 11 October 15
Ep 15 November 12
Ep 16 November 19
There is a very rare clip on the October 22 show with Moir Sisters - So Excited. Countdown only showed a short snippet in Humdrum but that episode had the full performance.
Also the Dugites - No Money clip that Jason mentioned.
It would be brilliant if those two clips have somehow survived on a storage tape or these actual episodes still exist.
Even if we never see any of these episodes it is certainly interesting just to know what was on and to have all the information together in this thread.
Re: 1982 Countdown 2nd Edition and Countdown Friday
No need to thank me guys, I'm happy to share. As I just posted elsewhere, I didn't realise that some of this information wasn't available to the other Countdown addicts, so it's nice to see it back where it belongs thanks to Nathan.

Guru, is the actual CLIP of So Excited on the Friday edition as so far we have only got the COUNTDOWN performance. i so want the actual video!
I would hope it is the clip as they did partially show it on a Humdrum but you are probably right that it is the live version. They did play a fair few live clips on Countdown Friday.
Either way it probably doesn't matter as I doubt it exists but it is interesting to know about it.
Re: 1982 Countdown 2nd Edition and Countdown Friday
We should hound rage for another Vault special this year (or Tuesday morning episode/s if that fails, though they seem to be stuck with themes for that) and suggest some of these rare videos.
Re: 1982 Countdown 2nd Edition and Countdown Friday
I would like 'My Man' by Cheetah, and it's interesting to see where 'Only Lonely' by Divinyls would have slotted in if there had been a single release.
Re: 1982 Countdown 2nd Edition and Countdown Friday
rage did play No Money last year on the Vault 1982 Special which came from a Flipside edition as it wasn't featured on a standard Countdown episode so they must have Flipsides and like Nathan said, they probably just haven't thought of playing Flipside Countdown's
Re: 1982 Countdown 2nd Edition and Countdown Friday
If they had Episode 9 that would be beyond great! We need to start agitating for rage to play these.
TARA's a very good resource but I don't think it's exhaustive in that just because something is not in TARA doesn't mean that it's not in the ABC archives. It might just mean that item, for whatever reason, has not been catalogued in TARA. Rage has played at least one Rock Arena that wasn't in TARA.

Yes, and there was the Lene Lovich-hosted Countdown that aired last year which no-one had a running list of what was on the show.

And couldn't find Flipside listed in either Tara or TNA and we know there are at least five shows.
Re: 1982 Countdown 2nd Edition and Countdown Friday
There are other threads in here that have all the answers to the questions asked. Check Gurubobs postings in particular. Countdown Friday and Flipside were seperate shows. Countdown Friday was mainly clips that could not fit into the standard show line-ups, and Flipside was a request show that played mainly older material. 3 Countdown Fridays are known to survive, but none have been shown on Rage. It appears that no Flipside shows survive, the 5 episodes mentioned are domestic recordings. Having said that though, more shows may well survive but have not been catalogued or had a digital transfer done.
Re: 1982 Countdown 2nd Edition and Countdown Friday
This one is the last one I have in the set of Kent Music Report photos, taken from the collection held in the National Library of Australia. Somebody else photographed these. Later listings of Countdown only have the Sunday playlist.
Re: 1982 Countdown 2nd Edition and Countdown Friday
Thanks for these Nathan. It looks like they played fairly run of the mill standard requests on those few shows.
I'm guessing the Deckchairs Overboard clip would be the one they made especially for Countdown and showed on a February episode.
Marianne Faithfull - Running For Our Lives really reminds me of early 1983 as that was the only time I heard it played before it vanished forever. It would be great to see that clip played again.
