Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special
I'm pleased to see these from the eighties at least, though they are not exactly rare as all three are on their respective artist's VEVOs...
RUSH Big Money
LOVERBOY Turn Me Loose
ROBBIE ROBERTSON Somewhere Down The Crazy River
These are great too but again, very common.
KD LANG Constant Craving
CRASH TEST DUMMIES Mmm Mmm Mmm
ALANIS MORISSETTE Ironic
NELLY FURTADO I'm Like A Bird
LEN Steal My Sunshine
It's still very Triple J/Triple M classic rock influenced.
I take it the theme is Canadian. It wouldn't hurt for them to throw some pop in there (Nelly Furtado comes closest) like Corey Hart or something.

There are way too many common clips on this. Two of those aired in recent weeks, too.

Or Celine Dion
I thought Alannah Myles might have made the list, but if so, they probably would have chosen 'Black Velvet'.
Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special
When watching it I was most surprised there was no Corey Hart or at least Bryan Adams. These were the biggest Canadian acts in the 80's that I can remember. A Corey clip would have been great.
I would like to have seen Glass Tiger - Don't Forget Me (When I'm Gone).
There was also Martha & The Muffins, Men Without Hats and numerous others that could have been included and get played all the time anyhow I suppose.

Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special
Cool - that will complete my digital collection of all four Goanna videos!
Some of the other choices could have been a bit more on the rare side though... although if they actually had some of the rarer Do Re Mi, Divinyls, Mondo Rock clips etc in their Library they would have already made an appearance at some point over the past 15 years. Can we assume they have lost them?
Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special
Hi Guys,
Does anybody know if the Sunnyboys clip was there actual videoclip or the Countdown one? They did show the Countdown one on Saturday again with The Clouds special?

It was the Countdown performance.
Interestingly, rage re-aired some of the Saturday morning (90s Australian music) vault segment this morning, plus Clouds' 'Hieronymus', rather than a re-hash of the top 20 chart countdown, as normally airs when rage is on Thursday morning ABC.
Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special
A rubbish 'Vault' night tonight; it looks like the theme is mid 00s songs.

Luckily I forgot to record it
I wasn't expecting anything I didn't already have/know to be good, but this one (which I haven't yet watched in full, but noticed when skimming through the program) was a nice surprise that seems to be rare-ish (or, at least, I've never seen it before):

Nothing of interest there.
Although... I think Sardine V are a name that appeared on Countdown (though I don't know them and don't recall if they charted).
Flaming Hands is a vaguely interesting charting hit.

I recorded the show on the off chance there's a song I don't know there that I like, but haven't watched it yet.
Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special
I find it quite annoying that the Rage facebook page can post links to eighties videos ('Tell It To My Heart' and 'Born In the USA') and say "Flashback Tuesday!", but not bother to play any. Granted they are both really common ones, but even an hour of eighties a week would throw up some rareties.

It's also insulting how nearly all of their 'trashy' selections are dance or pop, as if these genres are inherently inferior to their beloved alternative $ h i t
Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special
I think rage should have more electronica vaults. They have only seemed to have one in the last 6 months or so which was UK Garage. The rest are mostly alternative. It's ridiculous.

Definitely. The only 'electronica' Vaults they've have either been mostly trashy late 90s/early 00s, including several videos that never aired on rage as new releases, or common clips like 'Mr. Vain', 'Finally' (the '97 remix they always air) and 'The Rhythm of the Night'.

Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special
At Nathan,
I emailed you just now as I am watching and recording live ....
My DVD Recorder decided to have a fit during Tenna Marie with Lovergirl as the disc space was about to run out and that was just before Diana Ross with Swept Away which I REALLLY wanted desperately!!!!!! I need both of those videos.
Also, I had a sound cut out during Bronski Beat with Why?
Can you please check your email and get back to me when you can.
Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special
As I mentioned to Jason, 'Miss Me Blind', 'Tenderness', 'Dancing With Tears In My Eyes', 'Swept Away', 'Yah Mo B There', 'Caribbean Queen', the Billy Joel & Elton John songs, 'Sunglasses At Night', and 'Lights Out' are all enlarged slightly beyond 4:3 (but not enough to appear widescreen), so part of the picture is chopped off when recording in 4:3 [[:-|] I think 1 or 2 others were affected, too.
I really wish rage wouldn't tamper with the aspect ratio of 4:3 clips.
Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special
That 1984 Vault was one of the best I have seen since they started these Monday night Vault segments. So many clips that I had not seen on Rage before. Apart from a few exceptions they were mostly lesser chart singles which is always nice to see.
I remember the Teena Marie single as a 1985 song as that's when I first heard it. Lovergirl was in the charts at the same time as Billy Ocean's Loverboy from memory, which was one of those quirky 1985 occurrences similar to there being 3 Power Of Love singles reach the Top 10 and artists called King, Queen, Prince and Princess all charting in the same year.
Would love it if they could do the same for other 80's years as well.

Would love it if they could do the same for other 80's years as well.
They did 1988 on 17th January this year, but there weren't nearly as many rarely/never seen before on rage videos. There were only 6 videos from a list of 32 then that hadn't aired as a standalone video on rage (at least not since before 1998, when the playlists were posted online), to my knowledge.

It is annoying when they do that, although these weren't too bad, only zoomed in a little bit. I really hate it when they've zoomed in so that 4:3 clips become 14:9 or thereabouts. I'm not sure when that happens (and thankfully it doesn't happen too often) whether that is just carelessness or deliberate.
It's a shame though the video quality for Remember The Nights was borderline. Clearly some issues with the master tape there. The tearing/jitter in the top part of the picture was quite distracting.
Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special

I don't see why they do it at all; these videos were originally 4:3, and not letterboxed 4:3, like the videos they blow up to 16:9. Unfortunately, it seems to be their 'new' method of ruining encoding the videos.
And yes, that Motels clip looked bad, like a wobbly VHS tape.

Shame about all of the repeats (some which have been shown in earlier Vault episodes - Alexander O'Neal, Carly Simon, T'Pau) and common clips.
Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special
It's a good playlist now they've added quite a lot of pop, it seems more balanced. Nothing I need particularly, they haven't gone out of their way to find anything rare.
Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special
Jason 'The Moderator"
Debbie Gibson - Only In My Dreams <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
sighhhhhhhh
Except they play that all the time. That and 'Electric Youth' are the only 2 Debbie videos they've shown since the playlists have been online. I wish they'd pull out something else, just for a change. The same with Tiffany; 'I Think We're Alone Now' is the only video of hers they would have shown since 1993 (I caught 'If Love Is Blind' as a new release in '93).
Re: Every Monday night (Tuesday morning) on ABC1 now a Vault special
Jason 'The Moderator"
I haven't seen Only In My Dreams for awhile, so appreciated a new copy.
Would lvoe rage to play Foolish beat which is my fav Debbie moment ... Anything Is Possible would also be great
I stand corrected, it has only aired twice before since playlists have been online (in 2005 and 2010)... but still, it would be nice to see something different from her.
