Well it certainly looks like this week there is no Monday night (Tue morning) Vault. Whether this is permanent, or only during the W-League season, or only this week - time will tell...

I saw that when checking my electronic TV guide earlier today

W-League 'season'? I was hoping it was a once-off.

These Monday night Vault shows began in November last year, and they weren't disrupted then... why should they be now? Wishful thinking, perhaps.

Similarly, there's no Tuesday night ABC rage (which re-airs part of the Saturday night guest programmer/special) either, this week, from what I could see. There is a Wednesday night show, which runs for over 2 hours. Historically rage have used that to re-air the top 20 chart segment. I hope they do a Vault show instead.

They've been pretty unresponsive lately on the rage facebook page, not replying to comments etc., and now not allowing viewer posts on their page, other than as replies to things they post. Saturday night's playlist this week directed to last weekend's Saturday night playlist, too. Several of us pointed it out on the facebook page, but no response at all from rage so far (and no amended playlist - though it was a pretty rubbish show IMO, with nothing worth keeping).

I loved someone's comment on the Fleetwood Mac Vault playlist posted on the rage facebook page, along the lines of - "you play rubbish on the weekends, yet air this gold when no-one's watching"

I really hope not.

Who wants to watch (women's or men's) soccer at that hour?

Looking at next weeks' programming they are only showing the women's soccer on the Tues/Wed night - which is a repeat of their regular Sunday afternoon program.

It looks like they will only replay the Saturday afternoon soccer on the Mon/Tues night and next week there is no game broadcast in that slot so it should be back to normal vault segment.

Checking the soccer broadcast fixture it appears that the Saturday game shown last week was a one off to launch the season (although it was actually round 2 apparently). The W League season runs for 14 weeks plus 3 weeks of finals but in round 10 (Jan 1&2) there will be no broadcast game.

So it looks like we will be back to normal after tonight.

I've noticed Rage don't seem to be posting anyone's message on their Facebook page lately too.

I put up my Countdown episode requests for January last week and they haven't materialised on the Rage page yet.

Hopefully they will take anyone's requests on board at least and make note of them - I'd like to see a good January season considering there's 5 Saturdays next year. Here's hoping.

Yeah, you can only comment on posts rage make to the facebook page now, it seems. I haven't seen them comment on anyone's posts there, though, for a couple of weeks.

You can tag rage on facebook in your posts on their page by typing @rage and selecting rage when it comes up. That used to get their attention, but doesn't seem to anymore.

You can actually email rage: rage@abc.net.au - that might be another avenue worth trying.

Actually, there are only 4 Saturdays next January. Although there are 5 Sundays, rage date the playlists as Saturday night, so they will see it as there only being 4 retro episodes, most likely. The 1st January episode will be dated Saturday 31st December on the playlist, and will most likely be New Year's Eve 'party' music, as they've done for the last few years.

Do i record in 4:3 or 16:9?

I'm recording in 4:3, but several (if not most) of these videos might air in 16:9, due to either being widescreen or letterboxed 4:3, which rage usually enlarge. However, there were a couple of vault videos they've aired recently that were letterboxed but they did not enlarge them to 16:9. I wish they'd do that more often.

Whigfield's 'Sexy Eyes' will definitely be 16:9, as it was when it aired a few years ago. Same with Gina G 'Ooh Ah', BZ/Joanne, ATB, Jam and Spoon, Alice Deejay, Billie Ray Martin, Vengaboys, Dario G, Sonique - which have aired on rage in recent years, other than Vengaboys' 'Up and Down', which is letterboxed, so will probably be 16:9.

Eiffel 65, Shanks and Bigfoot, Urban Cookie Collective, and Melanie C have all aired in 4:3 in recent years.

Whigfield's 'Saturday Night' will be 4:3.

Ann Lee, ATC, JX and Aqua are all letterboxed, so will probably be 16:9.

I've asked someone to record it in 16:9 for me... but the ABC have got that additional '60 years of TV' bit to their watermark currently, which looks awful.

I just record the native MPEG stream as broadcast (which is 720 x 576 pixels) using a PC DVB receiver. Then I can post-process to my heart's content and never have to agonise over implied aspect ratios of whatever content is broadcast.

Implied 4:3 content is just the middle 75% of the MPEG stream, 540 x 576 pixels.

Looks like you saw this after it aired. Yes, rage wasn't on Tuesday night (Wednesday morning) this week, but was on Monday night (Tuesday morning) for the usual Vault episode.

This coming week's Monday night episode funs for over 3 hours. I wonder what they'll air... hopefully something good.

I also kept Rachel Sweet 'Baby', but had to re-sync the audio, as it was 0.27 of a second out of sync with the video.

I kept Lene Lovich's 'It's You, Only You (Mein Schmerz)' (and changed the aspect ratio for it), but have it in another folder for videos with a watermark on them.

I didn't keep any of the Madness videos, as I had them all from when Suggs programmed in 2009, and 'Night Boat to Cairo' from the 2014 Vault special.

What a great playlist! I don't think rage has ever played TIL TUESDAY "Looking Over My Shoulder" (not shoulders!). Although I have a good quality copy of this clip anyway, but still, great to see.

Looking Over My Shoulder video just aired on rage and it's actually not on the Til Tuesday Video comp I have!!! My one has Love In A Vacuum which is another fav. I have actually never seen the Over My Shoulder video so WOW, that was a real TREAT!!!!!!!

Til' Tuesdays debut album is one of my favourite albums of all time, it is simply STUNNING

One of the best vaults for the year.

I seemed to get some glitches (pixelation and freezing) throughout but fortunately didn't seem to affect the clips that I was interested in. Just wondering if others had this and it was a broadcast issue and not my reception.

Hopefully a precursor to the quality we will see in January - quality of programming not the glitches that is.

Yep they seemed to have some technical issues last night. Two clips got messed up - Only The Lonely got stuck and became a colour bar for about a minute then they jumped to the live performance of Total Control missing the first 20 seconds or so.

Then the audio was way out of sync in Will Powers "Adventures in Success" (which is one weird 'song') and it then suddenly jumped to the end of the clip.

There were a few other issues too, like the first Motels clip being titles as "THE MOTEL" and the Bangles clip being zoomed in a bit even though it is a 4:3 clip (same thing happened with "Breaking Up The Girl" in the Garbage special last week).

That's odd - I have an NTSC VHS compilation tape just called "Til Tuesday" with 5 clips on it and Looking Over My Shoulder is one of them. The other clips are What About Love, Voices Carry, Love In A Vacuum and Just Like Me (live). CBS Fox 1986, Cat No 3594.

Maybe Looking Over My Shoulder is on the VHS, I don't remember the video for Over My Shoulder though, I watched it a long time ago so yeah. The VHS was a 5 track so it must be on there.

As far as freezing, I had so much freezing last night and dropouts during quite a few clips, but the ones I wanted which were RARE were fine. This occurred on the DVD Recorder broadcast, on the Foxtel IQ recording, no freezing at all

Have rage ever aired 'The Touch'? I have a copy of the 12" 'Say You Really Want Me' video from rage in 1987 (someone sent it to me), and I know they aired 'You Came', 'Love Is Holy', 'Million Miles Away', 'In My Life', 'Kids In America '94', and 'This I Swear' as new releases/in the top 50-60 - none of these aired following her guest programming in 2013.

And yes I agree, there was no need for the common Cyndi/Janet etc. videos to be shown again.

The picture froze for me during Irene Cara's 'Fame', but I thought it may have just been a fault at my end. I also had some pixellation during the first video shown, Pretenders' 'Back on the Chain Gang'.

I live near a TV transmission tower, so theoretically my signal should be good. But I find that, generally, I'm more prone to glitches when the weather is hot at night. Why that is, I don't know.

I had no problem during 'Only the Lonely' or 'Total Control'. I didn't notice an audio sync problem during 'Adventures in Success', but would need to check.

The zooming on the Bangles clip is They've been doing this for a while; I don't know why (thankfully I caught a rage copy in its intended aspect ratio in 2009-ish). I also noticed it on 'Breaking Up the Girl' (and 'Push It' and 'Vow'). They do it with a small no. of old videos that were originally 4:3; god knows why, as it looks awful. It's not just zooming in, but they are cropped as well.

I got a colour bar as well during one video; I think one of the Pretenders' videos (but I didn't need it). I've never seen that kind of glitch on rage before.

Rage has been glitchy for a few mondays now. Grrrrr

rage have never played The Touch by Kim ... I had a really good copy of the video anyway but would be nice to see.

Rage did play In My Life and Kids In America '94 but they must be long gone from their library which is interesting as they have way RARER videos in general and they even played Dancing In The Dark by Kim after she programmed which is one of her very most RARE videos along with The Touch ....

I've got an official promo VHS compilation copy of 'The Touch'. It's complete and clean other than a 'Kim Wilde' superscript appearing for a few seconds over it.

Wow, rage are airing 'Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree' this Saturday morning.

Would have loved rage to dig out Rookies Revenge from Lou which was a PWL production from 1988. rage used to play it lots in 1988, I wonder if they still have it.

Most of the clips were selections that are played many a times though Bomb The Bass with Beat Dis isn't one that is aired much, it was aired heaps in 1988 but glad they still have the video. Don't Make Me Wait is my favourite Bomb The Bass track though...

Coldcut & Yazz with Doctorin' The House would have been good for this special and the original 1988 video for Coldcut and Lisa Stansfield with People Hold On which is not on Lisa's official DVD....

Yeah, 'Superfly Guy' would have been better, and yes, many of these videos are regularly/semi-regularly seen on rage anyway.

I have a copy of the Lisa Stansfield DVD but have never watched it properly, as I hate that the videos are cropped (they actually cut some of the top and bottom off the picture) to appear widescreen.

'People Hold On' appears on this European various artists DVD, which I have - https://www.discogs.com/Various-Party/release/2896238 . And it was actually released in 1989.
