I note this weekend Rage are playing a Recovery special, ie: all night Recovery. So going by that Rage have no excuse whatsoever to play any Recovery in January, thankfully.

I'll put in my Countdown requests soon although most of the ones I wanted to see have been shown now - I still want to see the 22 May 83 ep and the April 1987 show from the Underground Disco.

Here's hoping January will be a good one.

Next January is another 5 weekend one, thankfully. I want to ask for some Factory/Countdown Revolution stuff as well, but I know I'm in the minority there (and they probably aired too many C.Rev episodes this year).

I just hope they don't air any more of that show part-hosted by Gerry Sont that had very little actual musical content.

The Facebook page is generally the pits when it comes to well thought-out requests from commenters, with many people suggesting or getting excited over common clips they often play or have recently aired (e.g. Bomfunk MC's 'Freestyler' this weekend just gone), as though they hardly ever actually watch rage.

Fair enough. Facebook in general is the pits. Since the Rage messageboard/forum shut down I haven't checked what they do now, just assumed they do Facebook which I don't use.

So how do requests get handled at Rage these days? How do you contact them or has that avenue closed?

I contact rage via Facebook and they do get the messages. Sometimes they will reply other times they won't.

Thanks Jason. Had a feeling Facebook was the main avenue. I preferred the old forum style for that so haven't done suggestions for about 2-3 years. The last few Retro seasons had still been great and if we get around 15 Countdowns over the 5 weeks I will be more than happy.

Guru, you could always try emailing them your requests at rage@abc.net.au if you don't want to use Facebook. I don't know whether you'll get a response though (not that you usually do on the Facebook page either).

You post them either as a comment to the page (I'm not sure how noticeable these are though if there's more than say 3 other people who've also posted a comment recently), or a comment on a post a rage staff member has made.

The trouble with the latter though is how do you know rage even sees it, especially if there are hundreds of comments on one of their posts (as there occasionally are - most being filler, of course). You can try tagging them in your comment by using @rage and selecting rage from the drop down box that comes up, but unless they like or respond to your comment, you don't know that they've actually seen it/taken note of your suggestion.

Generally, multiple people requesting the same video/show gets noticed more than just one person asking for it, with or without a number of likes for their post.

I find it also helps to be quick/one of the first commenters on a post rage make to the page.

I sent rage my January requests last month - 3 Rock Arenas and 3 Countdowns. I posted them a letter, very old fashioned, I know. If you send them a shopping list they will ignore it. Even asking for 6 episodes was pushing it, I'd probably have a much better chance of success if I asked for only 1 or 2.

I'll let you know if any of my requests get through.
