i have Noticed that most 80's compilation cds released have never had the following songs featured on them.
I Know There's Something Going On- Frida
You Think Your A Man- Divine
Get Ready- Carol Hitchcock
Say I'm Your Number 1-Princess
Pistol In My Pocket- Lana Pellay
Homosapien- Pete Shelley
The Other Woman- Ray Parker Jnr.
Why Me- Irene Cara
Hi Adam, I picked up a double CD compilation in the early 90's - Electrifying 80's by J&B and it has 'I Know There's Something Going On' & 'The Other Woman' , but yeah, you're pretty right about the others.
A good series of 80's compilations that came out in America were called 'Just Can't Get Enough, New Wave Hits Of The 80'S'. I bought a few of these to get some rare tracks at the time.

Say I'm Your No.1 is on the PWL Gold cd collection released a few years ago, Get Ready is on THE HIT FACTORY 1987 cd and Homospaien has definitely been on a compilation but unfortunately Lana Pellay has NOT :-(
The Lana Pellay track was on 1986... Just For Kicks . But alas, that's probably only available on cassette & LP.
It was only really a hit in Australia (#17, compared with reaching just #96 in the UK). Quite odd really, considering Ostraya was in its bogan pub 'classic' rock Barnsey worshipping era.
The Carol Hitchcock track is on Hit City 1987, which was released on CD. Neither of these compilations are retro though, they were from the actual time.

Do you know what cds Skinny Girls by Alan O'day and Rocky Burnette's Falling in love is on.
'Skinny Girls' is on a 1980 compilation 'Squeezed Out'
'Falling In Love' is on '1980...The Summer'
Don't know of any actual CD compilations that have it?

Say I'm Your No. 1 is also on 1986 Way To Go and an extended version on the 1986 Way To Go Megamixes album:)
Love it! Is this from your collection or did someone give it to you?
It was actually from the end of the Smash Hits '88 VHS. There's a few album ads tacked on at the end. I uploaded the Bananarama 'WOW!' one to youtube, too. The other ads included albums by Poison, Cheap Trick, Bros, and Terence Trent D'Arby.
Not the official video, but all the vids have been compiled together. I see there are also ones for '1982 With A Bullet' & 'H'its Huge '84'. However these 2 are only half complete with videos that have been deleted.
Wow, thanks for that link Michael. I remember buying '88 Kix On on cassette in my local K-Mart
About 12 months later, I was perusing the cassettes in K-Mart when '88 Kix On was playing over the in-store speakers. A probably 20-something Asian couple walked in with their toddler in a pusher while Sabrina's 'Boys (Summertime Love)' was playing, and they liked the song and asked the person behind the music section counter what album it was from. I think they said '88 Kix On', which of course by that point probably couldn't be purchased off the shelves. I almost felt like going up to them and telling them which artist/song it was
I was living in New Zealand when that ad would have aired ('Careless Whisper', 'The War Song' & 'She Bop' were just released when I arrived there), so missed it altogether.
Here's some more that have been on YouTube for a while, but still worth mentioning.

My sister had this on cassette. $9.99?
From memory, I paid $16.99 for the first compilation albums (on cassette) I bought, in 1987 (those being "'87 Hots Up" and "Smash Hits '87"). According to the RBA's inflation calculator, $9.99 in 1982 equates to $14.44 in 1987, and $30.90 in 2011 (the latest year available on the calculator).
