I am BEYOND excited about the news that The Human League will be performing THE most CLASSIC album of the 80s "Dare" at V Festival. In late March meets early April!!!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! They may be doing some side shows as well, hopefully, crosses fingers*
Also on the V Festival bill is Madness, bless em... haha.
Is it the line-up that recorded "Dare" who'll be tourin'?
Human League are a great group and of course their 80's output remain classics.
Although I do have a particular fondness for 1995's 'Tell Me When' - a pretty good merging of 80's synth pop and 90's techno style.
Love to see a cd/dvd Greatest Hits combo sometime too.
Just Phil and the girls from the Dare line up, unfortunately.
BUT, the backing band that they yhave been using for years are FANTABULOUS!... great synths and brilliant musicians.
And yes Patrick, I LOVE "Tell me When". I remember rage played it in 1995 and I heard them say it will be on, on the rage line. I was MEGA excited, ahh sigh...
Madness are on the same bill as well? Sounds like pure heaven to me!
As a small lad way back in the early 80's I practically grew up on Madness songs - I think I almost wore out the Complete Madness LP from listening to it too much!!
They are a great group and very inventive with their song structures, etc. I often play the Divine Madness dvd of their greatest video hits and have been impressed at how they stand up pretty well these days.
They are a fun group and certainly well worth seeing live for sure.
Unfortunately's not a word I'd use for Suzanne Sulley-a stunner in her time,if I do say so myself!
Madness = I like in doses
The Human LEague - I would literally DIE for!
Hi Patrick, there was a Greatest Hits DVD released some years ago. It had video clips from 'Circus of Death' to 'All i ever wanted'. It might be deleted now. Here is the Amazon link:
Just slightly off on a different track. There is going to be a Thomas Dolby greatest hits CD/DVD being released in March In England.
A Thomas Dolby DVD!
I have been waiting for this to hppen. I adore Mr Dolby, such interesting videos and fantastic sounds. I am excited, COOL!
Let me know on this Forum when you have MORE details!
Adore The Human League but it's a shame that post Dare they kind of lost it.
I remember playing the vinyl copy of Dare back in the late 80's ad nauseum and driving my family crazy!!
I also have a video copy of their clips which has The Circus Of Death on it..great song but weird clip!
"Unfortunately's not a word I'd use for Suzanne Sulley-a stunner in her time,if I do say so myself! "
yeh John completely agree! Both are gorgeous!
When i watch the HL clips i can't take my eyes off the girls

Thomas Dolby is a very interesting artist - I don't mind some of his work.
Now correct me if I'm wrong - but in the clip for It's My Party by Dave Stewart and Barbara Gaskin it has a scene where Barbara is escorted by someone looking very much like Mr Dolby.
Was it him or am I imagining things?
Great song in any case and hilariously avant garde clip too - very early 80's!
Your eyes are deceivin' you-it was definitely Thomas Dolby
Hi, here is a link to a Human League channel on you tube. It has some live clips on it, if you want to see how they like live.
I would like to see a new album from them. I have their last one 'Secrets', as well as all the others.
Tell me about it!
Secrets was released in 2000. 9 years since!...
Yeh it's been awhile.
I haven't bought Secrets yet. I guess I was let down far too often post Dare and didn't bother. But I read it was a return to form and their best since Dare. So how would you guys rate it? Worth buying?
It is INDEED worth buying!... Some really fantastic stuff on it, and VERY synth *
BUT, the album before that "Octopus", to me is complete Synth Pop HEAVEN!
I noticed a live Human League concert dvd at JB yesterday, not too sure if thats old or new, just thought i'd let you Human Leagers know..
This is the one i saw, their 2003 live performance released in '07.
I did a search to see why they haven't released a new album. Here is an article dated 20th oct 2008:
It's a sad situation when they don't have a label considering the drivel that's out there
