I am redoing the brake linings on the car. I have it almost done, but I cannot compress one of the springs that helps maintain the alignment of the outer band. Does anyone have any recommendations for a tool that I can buy to help compress that spring? (or what the tool would be called - when I look up spring compressor, I find a tool for shocks and struts)

Is this the cone shaped spring that holds the shoe onto the backing plate?
If so I used a pair of vise grip pliers on a washer to compress the spring

I do not know of a proper tool to do this job
