Over on the DMAC Facebook page, Don Shilling‘s best friend Butch just reported that Don passed away on Sunday.
It comes as a shock to me as I spoke with Don on the phone just a few weeks ago, I’m sure Don is in a better place with his wife Shirley who passed earlier this year, I know Don will be greatly missed.
I've not been able to get in contact with any family member, but did speak to Don's good friend Butch. Not much is known except Don passed away late Saturday night, early Sunday morning. Funeral home says there is no plans for any memorial service or any information on grave side service at this time. I have left several messages for a possible family member to contact me but as of this time, no call backs. I will report more information should I make contact with someone that is in the know. Don was a long time member of the DMAC and loved the club. He would travel the country and sometimes Canada to acquire primarily Star parts but also Durant parts. He was "The Man" to go to for anything Star and had a great knowledge about the various model cars and what was factory correct. He was pre-deceased by his Wife, Shirley in February of this year. We've lost a valuable and very knowledgeable Star person who will be hard to replace. His email was Starman and that said it all! Rest in Peace Don!
