I've gone through three ignition coils in 100 miles. The last one worked for only 10 miles! Does anyone have any ideas about what may doing this?

Bad Coil to distributor wire? Excessive gap at spark plug? Increases resistance and causes excessive heat in the coil. Our systems are so simple and can take abuse, but can fail for some of these reasons. You should be able to test the coil for internal resistance across the primary and secondary windings from Google instructions, the values should be in a specific range for all coils.

Wires are all OK. Spark Plug Gap was .025 or less. Star manual says .020 or "about 1/32".

Fired right up with new coil.

Is there anyone making coils in the USA?

I guess the question to ask is were your three coils made in China? Would be hard to believe that three went bad within such a short time no matter where they are made. There are some standards that a manufacturer has to meet. I guess the US made coil is cheap enough to see if it is the problem. Let us know if you have success and the brand of your faulty coil(s) if that proves to be the problem.
