Re: Need Tips and some help for restoring my first Durant
Congratulations. Maybe you could give us some direction on what you think your car will need. Are you going for a full or partial restoration? What kind of shape do you think the car is in? Can you do mechanical and body work? It's rare to find a restorer that can do all aspects of a restoration, so something is going to have to be farmed out. Have you set a budget? Triple it. Face the fact that you are not going to make money on this project and you will feel better about the whole thing. Sounds like you are starting with documentation and pictures, which is great. Try to keep the information on everything that you are starting with, no matter how small--you may need it as you reassemble.Post us some pictures if you can and we can tell you what we think. There are members that know these cars frontwards and backwards. Try to have a space to work on this that can remain undisturbed for a long time. These things can take up a lotta room once you disassemble them. We can help when you are stuck!
