My son and I have been going thru pictures of 27 Stars and have a basic question about the convertible roadsters. Did they all have a rumble seat, or was this specific to a different model. We don't see any pictures that distinctly show the rumble seat. It shows up in the factory brochure photos for the M2, but not for 1927. Does anyone have brochures or photos showing the rumble seat? By the way, we took our maiden voyage around the block today, running on vacuum tank gas. Ammeter works, oil pressure works--we are thrilled!! (But I broke the wood convertible top brace :sob:
Also, does anyone know if the Star front bumpers actually had a star on them? Mine does, and although it looks period correct, I wonder since the chroming doesn't look proper.
Hi Brian..
The "convertible Roadster" refers to the model with the large removable trunk lid that could be replaced with a pick up bed or an enclosed box. They did not have a rumble seat.
If you look at the many "following a Star" threads you will see our Star convertible roadster.
The trunk lid is huge and goes all the way down to the rear cross member.

OK, so I am officially confused. My car looks "nearly" identical to yours, except there are steps on fender, hand rails on the sides and a rumble seat. VIN says model M, with serial numbers matching 1927. What am I missing?
Brian ...
go to the photographs section. Click on Star go to 1926 and click on Dealer brochure.
scroll down to Deluxe roadster. That is probably what you have.
