engine oil

the book for my 1928 Durant m-2 calls for light mineral oil in the winter and heavy mineral oil in the summer, When the book says mineral oil does it mean the food grade clear cutting board butcher block and rust protectant oil you can get on amazon?

Re: engine oil

Hi Parker,

The 1931 lubrication chart in our Technical Page defines Light mineral "LM" as a 20wt oil and heavy mineral "HM" as a 30wt oil for all Durant models. Here in California I use 20w-50 motor oil.

Re: engine oil

I've used Valvoline 20-50W racing oil(grey bottle). It's got the 50W for the "large" clearances in our engines(they also sell a straight 50W). Ross
