Just an update for everyone. I checked with the hotel and we have a total of 17 rooms booked for the event. Remember if you have NOT made your reservations for a room yet do it ASAP. This hotel in the NYC are sells out about every weekend and well in advance of any Conferences. IT IS the best hotel in Staten Island!
If you go to Club Events you can click on the link for the Hotel.
Charlie and I are going up on Sunday to meet with Ed and map out directions for the tours.
The schedule will be arriving on Thursday 9/13
Friday 9/14 We will all drive to Old Richmond Town and take a tour of the town and have lunch there. Later in the afternoon the men will have their Tech Session. Roger and Bert have graciously agreed to do this one. The ladies will meet in the hospitality room for tea.
Saturday 9/15 we will all take the Staten Island Ferry into NYC. The day will be on your own to explore Central Park, Wall Street, Broadway (plays). old Durant buildings, etc. If people are interested in getting tickets to a Broadway Play-reply to this and let us know what you want to see and we can try to get tickets as a small group OR there are TKTS booths in NYC where you can get discounted theater tickets the day of the show.
Sunday 9/16 we will be attending a huge (Ed says over 500 cars) Classic Car Event. Ed says there is a restaurant on site. Sunday evening will be our Annual Banquet in the Hotel followed by our Annual Meeting.
Monday morning 9/17 everyone says their good-byes.
The hotel rate does not include breakfast, but the restaurant has a wonderful buffet at a reasonable rate. I will also stock our hospitality room with continental breakfast item and juice for those who want a light breakfast.
)
The cost for the event will be $125 a person. This will cover all the entry fees, 1 lunch, the Banquet, and all the amenities for the hospitality suite. The registration form will be up here at the Durant Site, and in your Spring Partner.
If there are any questions contact Charlie or me here (we are doing all the computer work for Ed and taking care of the registrations). Or feel free to contact Ed directly. We hope to see you all in Staten Island in September
Don, it is our pleasure to help Ed out. You know he has been wanting to do this meet in NY for a long time. If he hadn't been having all these health issues, he wouldn't need our assistance. He had a good handle on what he wants to do-and he picked the nicest hotel on SI. We look forward to seeing everyone in September!
We spent most of the day with Ed going over the routes to Old Richmond Town, to the Staten Island Ferry and to Corporate Commons where the car show on Sunday will be. I had gotten questions about what kind of Car Show this was. IT is the Staten Island Region AACA (SIRAACA) Fall Classic Car Show and Flea Market. Ed says they will get over 500 Classic Cars participating in this show. The restaurant on site is the Commons Cafe'. You can look up the menu and prices at their website (just type in Commons Cafe in Staten Island and it will come up). They donate a portion of their profits to Charity. Last years car show ran from 8Am-4 PM. IF there are other questions on this-please call or email Ed. Thanks
