In 2011 the DMAC received a generous gift from Mr. Will Moon consisting of outside dealership sign from the Mills Durant/Star Dealership in Billings, Oklahoma. The sign stood for many years above the dealership advertising the Durant/Star cars sold there. The metal sign measures a 4-foot by 9½ foot by 9inches thick and was lighted via bulbs inside. This sign was picked up by DMAC member Don Shilling and is currently stored at his residence. An article about the acquisition of the sign was in an earlier issue of the club magazine “the Partner” and more photographs and information on the sign can be found at the DMAC museum web site.
The Durant Museum is now soliciting funds to help restore the sign to its former glory. Restoration will consist of metal work, paint and electrical work with restoration costs being estimated at $4,000.00. Who knows, maybe some day the sign will again hang over the DMAC museum!
