Re: Napa, Standard motor, acdelco etc, which parts do I get?

Hi Gerald....

first you need to identify your distributor. Easiest way is by the shape of the rotor. Is it tear drop shaped or a round circle? If it's a tear drop the parts are still available. IF it is the round you will need to search for old stock parts......

I think this would be considered tear drop shaped?

Hi Gerald...

yes that is a tear drop rotor. The tune up parts are still available from NAPA.

Here is the data from our tech page. find the chart under tune up parts on tech page......

Be sure to use the cap and rotor as a group, they are a different height than the original.

These parts are for 4 & 6 cylinder applications for 1928-32 Continental engines. The 6
cylinder parts worked well on an Auto-
Lite IGB-4006C distributor. The distributor cap and
rotor are manufactured for Continental industrial engines and must be used together since the
cap and rotor are slightly taller than the originals (1/4") used for Durant and Star
automobiles. Brand names found were
Borg Warner, Niehoff and NAPA

Re: Napa, Standard motor, acdelco etc, which parts do I get?

I ordered most of the parts on the list from napa. The brushes and generator cutout don't exist in Canada with those numbers. Although they do have one on ebay with the same serial numbers but different brand and I wondered if it's the same
It looks the same and is 6 volt.... but hadn't heard of the brand.

Re: Napa, Standard motor, acdelco etc, which parts do I get?

Hi Gerald....

The cut out is available from tractor companies. It was used on Allis Chalmers Model C tractors.

here is the listing from Valu-Bilt tractors:

Hope this helps.....Frank

Re: Napa, Standard motor, acdelco etc, which parts do I get?

To all that read these posts:

I have had similar issues with two of the Durants that we own, and while I have not posted the problems on the Forum, I have sent emails to several members asking for assistance. That assistance was very prompt considering the holiday weekend, and thanks to Frank and Lance for that help.

But the point of this is, if you own a Durant made car, there are real experts that can assist you in getting answers and solving your problems. If you are unsure, or need help, ask, the answer is only a few key strokes away. Just post your question, and someone will respond.

As my wife often says, the DMAC is family, and family is there to help! Thanks to all of those that have helped in the past, and will continue to help in the future, names are not necessary, you all know who you are.

Bravo Zulu to the fantastic members of the DMAC.
