radiator shell emblem removal

Can anyone enlighten me as to the best way to remove the Durant logo/emblem from my grill shell without damaging it? I am looking at having it nickel plated and doubt they can do it with the crest in place. Tips are appreciated. Thanks.

From the backside, you will notice a flat washer type of device in the center of the medallion back. Gently remove this "washer", this will release the spring fingers grip on the hole in the shell and allow you to push the medallion towards the front of the radiator shell.

Todd The ring in the fingers is a later method of holding the radiator emblem to the shell. I think you will find yours is one piece. You will have to tap yours out from the back side with a 1/2\" dowel or socket. It\'s a press fit. Congratulations on your retrieval.

Bob, you were right about the press fit. Came out with a good pop with a wooden dowel. Thanks for the tip, and the congrats.
