Cleaning surface Rust and grease.

I was asked how I removed the rust from all the moving parts under my vehicle during restoration.
It is quite simple. We found an old Bath or tub, half filled it with a mixture of Molasses and water, placed the removed parts into the mixture for six weeks. We checked them every two weeks, then we removed them, they were as new. Some smaller parts were ready before six weeks.Hope this maybe of help to some one.

Re: Cleaning surface Rust and grease.

You are correct! The only thing I will add is the mixture ratio of 1 part Molasses to 10 parts water. Also a lid is advised to keep critters out.
Molasses in the States run about $5 a gallon and is easy to find at any feed & grain store.
