hi I have just bought part of a durant star car. I have the engine running now but I can not find any way to check the oil level. I"m new at this so can someone help me thanks

If is a 4 cly. W5 right side below the water pump & dist. there is a hole that should have a wire coming out and should be two raised words "high" & "low" so drain the oil put in 4 qt's then mark the wire. The wire should have a cork on the end so it floats
