Exhaust packing material

Just got the exhaust done on my '26 and am wondering what others have used for packing around the pipe and between the manifold and manifold nut.

Thanks, Brian.

Re: Exhaust packing material

Brian, I use an exhaust donut, I think from a GM engine gasket set, that fits the pipe. Grind off the OD to match the inside of the manifold.

Re: Exhaust packing material

Brian:

We were able to purchase the correct exhaust gasket for the manifold end, and for the joint where the exhaust pipe goes into the tubular backbone and muffler we used the packing for an "airtight stove door" This works well.`

Just in case you have some leak I was very successful with a high temperature sealant that comes in tubes.
