new engine start/up

new engine really tight, will not turn fast enought on starter,we have started it twice on a tow and it really runs nice, can I boast it with a 12 volt battery and will it hurt anything, like generator, dist, points, coil, starter, etc.till it gets loose enough to start on 6-volt.

Obie,
During assembly, at what point did the engine start to feel tight to rotate by hand?

Re: new engine start/up

Don's on the right track. You should try to figure out what's tight.

Nonetheless, if you just want to jump start it, 12 volts won't hurt the starter unless the insulation has deteriorated. Jump to the starter side of the switch/solenoid to isolate the other components.
