I just finished rebuilding the Spicer joint on the '27. The DMAC tech pages on this rebuild were invaluable. I made the fixture from 1/8" x 1 1/4" mild steel with 1/4" screws and wing nuts. This worked very nice and made reassembly a breeze. I found the 1" rubber balls, 55 durometer at McMaster-Carr
