Happy Holidays Everyone!!
What fan belt are you using for a 29 Durant 14L 6Cyl.? Bought serpentine belt from late model car from NAPA. Can't keep it tight. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Interesting NAPA doesn't seem to recognize Star 6 or Durant 6 pre 1930. Took me a bit of fiddling before I came up with 30 Durant 614 and the belt for that.
Previously weeks back I had found the 22A belts on NAPA and it gave me belt length, width and angle. Now it doesn't give length at all. Not sure I like their belts with the cut out parts over the solid belt. We're driving the generator, which in turn is driving the water pump. But armed with length I'm going to a tractor store where they have piles of solid belts of various lengths. Don't know if the 14L is same as the 22A but it gave 47.05 inches (1195 mm), .75 inch (19mm) width and 36 degrees angle of the V. Ah should have looked in the 35 parts listing and 22A is different. The belt for 30's 4 or 6, is same all models from 30 - 34 Durant and Frontenac. Except the 617 which has its own belt. 60 to 66 has its own, and 70 / 75 has its own.
Could be that belt you bought has those cut out parts allowing stretching, over solid belt that won't stretch as much. Just an idea.
Goodness that was a few days ago ha ha... I don't know now where I bought it but I got a PIX Belts and hoses for Agriculture & Industrial products
Says A-B44K on the pkg which I assume is Agriculture. Under that is 5/8" X 47" KEVLAR
Belt itself has PIX-5/8" x 47 / B44K / 5L470K
Lots of hits in Search for the belt info. Seems popular is John Deere riding mower but are blue coloured. Mine is black. I think I got it at Smith's FARM EQUIPMENT, New Holland Dealer, Jasper Ontario.

Sometimes old is good ha ha. However getting all sorts of past and present parts numbers might help finding our vehicles replacements items. Never know where things are hiding.

Thanks for the help and comments.
I called my local NAPA auto parts store and gave them the Gates number. They cross referenced to their NAPA number 25-24461.
They did not have it in stock, but got it in the next day. It gobbled up my thirty dollar bill and some pocket change, but it looks good when placed against the very, very old belt that came with the car (fabric covered old one).
And, wonder of wonders: the new one is made in the good ol' U. S. of A.! That surprised and delighted me.
Anyone know how to put that part number on the tech page so others can see it?
Thanks again!
Bob
Hi Dennis-sorry for the delay but I am using a Gates K060408 belt on my 14L with great success. This also is an equivalent to a CarQuest K4106. Both are 13/16" wide x 41.75" long. Hope that helps. Phil
