Thank You Don Shilling !!!

Hi All......

Cathy & I just got back from the DMAC International Meet in Texarkana.

WOW WOW WOW does not fully describe the fun we had. Don put on an excellent meet.

Don, I realize all the effort you put into this meet and it is appreciated. Everyone I talked to at the meet was having a great time. There was plenty to do and great people to do it with.

It was good to see old friends again and make some new ones.

The hospitality room is always a big hit at these meets, and this was no exception. Many stories and information was exchanged. And a lot of us got little sleep...too busy talking.

A nice thing about the DMAC is that the ladies get involved. There were activities for them, and they spent a lot of time with us in the hospitality room. The desk clerk at the hotel enjoyed watching the football game with them. I think they may have even converted him to a Steeler fan!

The banquet at the Museum was a great venue. Elvis had the ladies swooning, and possibly even Bob. Bordeaux (aka member Butch James) was a hoot! And that good home cookin' was enjoyed (Cathy even got some recipes).

The visit to your home, shop, garage, museum, junk pile, swap meet, was unique. Your Wife made some great vittles, everyone enjoyed.

THANKS again Don for a wonderful time.......

Re: Thank You Don Shilling !!!

Don, I had a great time. Yeah, I spent most of monday sleeping as I got very little rest in Texarkana. I just spent lots of time talking in the hospitality room until late each night. It was fun!

It all happened so fast, one minute I'm saying hello to everyone as they arrived and before I knew it I'm on a plane going home. Where did the time go?

Thanks Don, We all have a wonderful time.

Hey guys.... don't forget the trip to Old Washington Arkansas! The Magnolia tree, carrage ride, gun exhibit and a working Blacksmith shop where Ken watched his meat turner being made and much more! Impressive!

Don... I've always heard of Southern hospitality, but I didn't really know what it was before. This was a large undertaking on your part and as far as I'm concerned you and your crew hit a homerun!

Thanks... we had a blast!

Don
I too must add my big "THANK YOU" for all that you put together for your fellow Durantonians. I had never been to that part of the county and the trip was great. Having organized several meets now I know the hard work and effort that goes into putting one of these together. You did a wonderful job. Thank your wife too for allowing all the Durant mob to come to your home on Saturday and to feed us too.

Re: Thank You Don Shilling !!!

Common Gary, Anytime. Stay a few days, I'll even set you up a cot, smack in the middle of a pile of parts!!

Actually, in hindsight, the preparation for this event was not too difficult. The weather was the main concern since we had some outside activities, but we got lucky. I just wish more folks cudda' been here and shared the fun.
My wife, Shirley, said this was the best vacation she's ever had and didn't even have to leave the house!!!
Jerry, (Elvis) even said he had a good time doing his performance. Sometimes he gets a hard crowd but the Du-ranters were a lot of fun.
We're looking forward to Lancaster and already have a suggestion for an activity if Frank can swing it. I've seen Tractor Pulls down here so how about an Amish Buggy Pull up there?????

Re: Thank You Don Shilling !!!

I just got home a couple of hours ago and had to check in to see what was happening. I cant add to what everyone else said but can sure echo the remarks . It was great . Cant wait to try out the steak turner . First I have to get the plaque hung up in my room for the world to see. It was a long drive but worth every mile of the trip. (Now I have to try to talk sweet to Norma and see if we can make it next year again .)Don--You did a great job. Many thasnks to you and Shirley for the tour and the great soup we had. The only thing I have to add is that if more was made we would have eaten it as well. I hope to see all of you guys and gals at the Vancouver meet in 2011. Not to far for me this time .

Re: Thank You Don Shilling !!!

Ditto everything about the Texarkana meeting. Don did a great job. We both thoroughly enjoyed seeing everyone and the tours. Especially enjoy Jim's tech presentation.

Hey Ken - "recalculating... turn left, turn left." Glad you made it home OK with all them left turns. Your GPS must know where home is!.

Re: Thank You Don Shilling !!!

Recalculated my way home --best way I could --I shut the ****ed thing right off. Didnt even get lost without it . That was the most aggravating machine when I was there -couldnt even find its own way to the hotel. Good thing I had help or I might still be going in a left handed circle .
Thanks for reminding me of it Wayne. I was just getting happy again --Good thing I know my way around this city.

Re: Thank You Don Shilling !!!

First of all the Millers & the Babicks would like to thank Don for planning this years annual meeting & tour. Good job!!. We got home last wed. I am sure that most of you have herd of jet-lag. I wonder how many of you have had train -lag. It has taken us two days to get somewhat back to normal. To say that we had a good time would be an under statement. Also congrats to our newly elected officers.
