Our 1929 D-40 was finally driven again this past weekend. It was the first time it has been running since 1965. It was donated to another Musuem in '65, from which we later inherited it, in 1990. The car had been on static display all of those last 43 years. Last November, a team of 4 Museum volunteers undertook to get the old car operating again, and it was started for the first time last Sunday. Thanks to the many Durant club members who provided parts and advice over the last winter. All 4 of us have worked on other old cars, but none of us had previously worked on a Durant. There are still several more repairs required before we can hand the car over to the Museum's operations staff, but the end of the project is now in sight. It was an exciting day.
