I am wanting to remove the engine from my 1926 Durant.
Does anyone know what process I could use without taking the transmission back?
ie, How do I slide the coupling backwards or forwards between the engine without disassembling?

There is an aluminum "spool" between the two Spicer joints. Remove the 4 bolts in each end and the spool will drop out. This will allow enough room to remove either the engine or trans.
The front spicer joint will pull off the splined clutch shaft. If you want to remove the joint from the transmission input shalt, there is a bolt on the front of the shaft. You will need a deep well socket to reach down into the spicer joint. Once the bolt is removed the joint will slide off the splined shaft.
Hope this helps......
